  Heading out in a bit to try the Pandora out with skis if the snow hasn't melted off.

How did you make out with the skis?

            Hi Iowa54 I have used the Anylink and found that it works fine the only issue is the cord it is pretty fragile mine actually broke the wire going into the little connecter had to solder it and have no problems with it.  I just wanted to say that the flyzone Beaver is one great plane flies so scale with floats on water just a beautiful bird I'm kind of prejudiced  towards the Beaver since I used to work on them when I was in Nam,  great plane just keeps on trucking.  Have fun your going to love this plane!!!!! :D

Thanks for the tip, I think I will enjoy it. The Beaver should show up today. I ordered the Anylink system just to have around and will probably give it a try. maidened the Dusty C-188 on Sat and Sun flew my Dynam Waco for the 2nd time and both are great fliers. Looks like the weather here is going to shut down any flying for awhile so I'm really happy I got to fly those two this past weekend.... :D

First off Thosmosis, I hope you're on the road to recovery, that was TRULY a bad day of flying. Secondly, A WORD OF WARNING to all who just bought the Beaver and have not yet assembled her. DON'T use the screws that are included to attach the gear/floats!! I bought one as a Christmas gift to my flyn' buddy and spent a few hours yesterday afternoon helping him extract three screws broken off at the head. This is apparently a known issue on the thread over at RCGroups but didn't see anything mentioned here. I was giving my buddy a lot of grief about not stopping after the first one broke ;) but he assured me he wasn't using excess torque and couldn't believe they kept breaking. He's no rookie so I have to believe him, and just looking at these you can see they are low quality. As for the rest of the plane, we both are impressed with the value for dollar and it is a very sharp looking aircraft. The lighting system, the flaps, and the fact that no servos are visible on the outside are my favorite parts. Weather here is just horrible, rain and flooding so it will be a while before we fly her but I'm pretty sure she'll be a sweet flyer.

Those screws are absolutely worthless.... I have one in the fuse that I can't get out no matter what I try... Even tried heating it with a soldering iron to melt it out but no joy. Luckily it's the screw for the landing gear at the top so it doesn't affect the floats. I've never been able to use the landing gear because of that, I've only flown it off the water. I wrote about it in my review of the plane but you would have had to read a bunch of reviews to see it. Sorry that happened to him.... They should have used better hardware. I mean how much more money would that have increased the plane by? A couple of bucks at the most....

Yeah... Those screws are really cheap. I got mine in OK, but will replace them if I ever remove the floats. I never hear you guys talk about using a retreaval boat. The club always has one on hand. I've only used it once. I don't like to think of standing helplesly watching my plane float away to the other side of the lake. A 4 mile hike! Doc

I had read the warning about the screws. I too got mine in ok.....
retreaval boat...hmmm...does the life jacket i put in my vehicle count? I have thought about the what if...

Yea I hate those screw, popped the head off of one on the gear.......

On the subject of this plane, how does the prop tighten up? Is it with pressure on the shaft when tightening the nut that secures the prop or am I missing something?

I have my replacement Beaver #2 in the garage. Painting the floats... I do remember Getting screw replacements at the hardware store for my doomed first model... At least, I remember installing them for the landing gear... Which only stayed on for one flight... But I bought the island Wings model as well, when it too went on sale. I'll need to look for that screw list, rather than do what I did -- go to the hardware store and try and match them up...

Did the maiden on my flying buddies Beaver this last weekend and now I see why this is such a popular plane. Just needed a few clicks of right aileron and she flew great! Last couple of flights were right before dusk and the lighting looks sooo nice. The only little problem was self inflicted as we put a longer horn on the flaps which proved to be waaaay to much. Luckily we had installed an inline module to slow flaps deployment to 6 seconds so the severe pitch up came about slowly. Landed flaps up with no problem. Next flight we cut the flap servo throw to 35% and it seemed perfect.

Finally finished my Flyzone Beaver tonight. Changed the plug on the ESC to a T connector , changed the receiver to a 6ch Lemon. Roughed up the motor shaft to help hold onto the prop. Still need to check the CG and add the decals and depending on the weather maybe get in a maiden soon.

Rough up the motor shaft with a file or sand paper ect.. It helps the collet grab the shaft. To tight and it snaps off , to loose it flys off!!

I admit I did not read the entire thread, but I have a question about the water rudders. Has anyone used a method to rig the water rudders different from that shown in the manual? I wasn't happy with the control response on the water using their method.

I put on a larger/longer, servo horn. I've also changed to some spider wire instead of that "fishing line". Still hooking up the rubber bands, working on something better there (small springs?)

But the difference with the longer servo horn is great! Turn on a dime :) 

If you cant tell by the picture, i bolted the longer servo horn right onto the stock horn.
