Outstanding paint job wvrailfan! Is the black pin striping painted?

I need to look into a nice paint job as all the stock decals are slowly falling off.

The pin stripes are tape. The plane is wrapped with vinyl film, not painted. It is three years old and has well over 100 flights on it.

Well I am now the owner of "2" Beavers... I bought the 1st one on a Black Friday sale last fall and the picked up a new but, unflown one yesterday. Time to maiden one I guess.. Lon.. Want to assist me?? I think I'll put the wheels on one of them.. Both are set up with floats at the moment..

I did a mod on mine this weekend. Tired of the rubber band and fishing line rigging. I had some 2mm light weight push rods i cut to length. And have them to control the water rudders now. As far as CG, it's effected it very little. Anxious to fly and see how it works.

I'm game !! I'm going to try and take Beaver #2 with wheels on its maiden on Tues. Sounds like it should be a decent day but, that can change quickly as you know. Sounds pretty windy the rest of the week. I like your mod on the floats, Hope that works out as I might have to copy it. I know mine don't seem to work very well with the rubber bands.

The flyzone Beaver is an outstanding plane , it has it all , great looks , well powered with stock motor , nice detail and the metal stuts for the floats are really nice and look fantastic.
Flying off land water or even snow this is WITHOUT A DOUBT one of the very nicest planes in it's class !

The flyzone corsair and corvalos are also nice looking nice flying planes.

Took the Beaver on wheels for its maiden on Tues. Very easy flier, take off in a slight cross wind was nice and lands as easy as my Tiger Moth. Gotta give it a thumbs up. looking forward to trying out the floats..

I replaced the cheesey rubber bands, right away, with light springs, and the monofiliment with very fine wire. Works great and looks good, too! Doc

The setup worked great! It is very windy here this afternoon, but i decided to go to the lake and just taxi around to see how it works. And then yes, I couldn't control myself. I lined her up into the 12-16mph wind and throttled up. Yikes! It was not a nice relaxing cruise around the lake. With the wind and gusty. She needed 100% of my attention. With the wind, I couldn't tell if there was any effect on the CG.I don't believe so. Had checked it out on CG machine. I was 59mm CG before the change and 60mm after. Didn't have to trim or anything, but didn't think about trim....too busy flying her!

Glad it worked out for you Lon, I'll have to check that out. That wind did pick up quite a bit afternoon. We laid new fabric down on our runways today and I'm glad we had most of it done by then.

Well my Beaver just got eaten by a tree. It's 40ft in the top and it dose not look like it will survive any rescue attempt. Pictures to come.

That sucks, I put my Pandora in a tree once and got lucky, I couldn't see it from below so I gave the throttle a bump hoping to hear it for a location, to my surprise It came loose but, broke a wing on the way down. Hope you can recover it.

No I think it is a write off. I added the picture in the above post. Wind might take it down but who knows how long that will take.

Anyone need a set of floats for a Flyzone Beaver?

Don,t need the floats but, if you manage a recovery and it's a write off. I would be interested in the landing gear. My 2nd Beaver only came with floats. Guess I should ask...... How did it up in the tree?

Pilot error.

I have a BAD HABIT of thinking I need to use ALL of the airfield. For some reason I think I need the room when I dont. So to make a long story short, I was down range (too far down) above the trees when a full scale was making it's way toward the field ( we are near a small field). Club rules make it mandatory to go below the tree line. So being way the he** down range I dove for the tree line. As I went down I rolled the aircraft so I could pull the stick back and head away from the trees. As I made my decent I got misoriented on my position and when I pulled back on the stick to fly back toward me, I pulled it and headed right to the trees. I had time to fix it but I panicked and the rest is history.

I never really walked the field to see how much room there is and how little you need to use.

I'll let you know if/when it comes down and if the gear is still usable, they are yours!

Well Kevin, from a fellow Kevin... I did and screw up a couple weeks back also.. I was flying my HawkskyV2 in gusty winds when a large gust blew it behind me. I tried to bank it back towards me and pull up but I lost sight of it as I turned around and when I regained sight of it, it was upside down noseing into the ground. In hindsight I should have banked with the wind instead of into the wind. Live and learn !!
