Should have 20 kt winds today as a cold front pushes through. Might go down tomorrow after work and see if it is on the ground.

Took the Beaver up today and the one wing kept coming unclipped. Don't really want to glue them on. When I reattach them all seems tight but, one comes loose during the flight I guess from flexing.. Any ideas?

Have you "shook the plane" after attaching the wings? I'm sure the wing struts are secure. Before being a part of a tree (it did move a bit last night) I noticed that the wing clip needed a bit tweaking with a screwdriver to make sure the tab was fully engauged.

Just a few thoughts.......

Yes I have twisted, pulled shook and they click in tight. Three landings and the wing had popped out each time.. Have to take the strut off each time to reassemble. One person told me to tape the tubes together to keep the wing from sliding out. I"ll try that and see what happens.

Yes we do!! I took the Beaver to the field the afternoon for a bit. Got in about 8 flights between the Beaver,C-188 and my Tiger Moth. Had fun, about 15 pilots there today.

I bought a new Beaver and I thought I would put Minwax on it to keep it nice looking. However I used oil based instead of Polycrylic water based which is the right stuff. However on the white portions of the Beaver it now has a yellow tint on it and looks nasty.

Anyone know how I can fix this? Have not flown it yet and would like to keep it nice looking

Sorry, but big mistake. I'm afraid your only hope, other than settling for an antiqued airplane, is to paint it and give it two coats of Varathane water base (MUCH better quality than Polycrylic). Acetone might remove the oil based coat, but it would probable make a big mess of it. I would see this as an opportunity to put my own paint scheme on it. Doc

Well... some of the poly oil based paints are VERY susceptible to degradation by UV. After a couple of weeks in sunlight and some poly paint just washed away in the rain when I tried using it for protecting our club field's sign...

The ones that don't like UV are also the ones that rapidly yellow from sunlight.

So, I'd leave the float where they get sunlight and see if the paint can just flake off.

Yeah... at 7000 ft. The sun (UV's) eats plastic like it was candy! Exterior Varathane WB holds up very well here, but I still keep my planes in the shade. By the way, I can only find Varathane at Home Depot or on line. Doc

Loved that video!!

It's been awhile since i posted this Beaver flight. But is one of my favorites because of the audio of one of my grandchildren. As you can see, i have a great place to the Beaver.

Did the maiden on Beaver #2 tonight. wanted to use the floats but, used the landing gear instead. Flew well but had to use a lot of trim on the ailerons. Thought maybe it might be a flap out of adjustment so I readjusted those when I got home.

I kind of hate to bring back an old thread, but the FZ Beaver is still a good model and I am hearing rumbles that new "turbo" version may be in the works. Thought I'd check to see of any of the Motion folks have any insight regarding a new version of a good plane.

I know this thread is old, but I have bough Robbe beaver with floats ( it is the same plane as Flyzone Beaver ).
Any tips on the plane beside bad screws on landing gear?
What interest me the most is how are those wing for disassemble and put the plane in the car?

Mr.Black Hey there Mr. Black, you're right, the original Flyzone Beaver is a good plane, and fun to fly off of water. Disassembling it can be tricky, though, because the flap connecting rods are joined inside the fuselage. Each time you disconnect them, you'll need to reset their position. I think it's much easier to remove the landing gear, rather that removing the wing, for transport in a car. But that is just my opinion.

The screws for the floats have not given me any problems, yet. Just do not overtighten them.

I do have only floats, no wheels. The plane was bought as a hidroplane and it will be used for flying off water mostly.
I can remove landing gear, but it is the wingspan that troubles me. 1500 mm is a bit too wide for the back seat of my BMW series 3.
Anything else I shoud know about this plane or flying the floats?
I just had one flight with floats on my Carbin cub s+ ( God rest his soul )
