Well, lucks got nothing to do with it I'm sure it was a lot of hard work and dedication, but still, lucky bugger. ;)
I should have explained I wasn't a pilot but a In-flight Refueler or boomer as we say on the KC-135. I was the only enlisted person of the 4 man crew,I had three officers fly me to work every day. Best job in the Air Force  :)

Still, talk about a cool job. I'd think being a tb pilot would be a pretty cool job in the usaf too. Hell, I'd settle for the job of just washing the windscreens so I could be around these things each day lol. :)

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't swap being an Aussie for quids, but sometimes I wish was born in the USA, I would have loved to get into the airforce when I was younger. Or even flying jets off carriers with the navy. If it flies, I'm keen.

And now that Brendan has moved to my side of town, we'll need to do some formation flying! :D

                  Annnnnddddddd.....we're back
                  How about Canyank-eh?

Anyways, great to see the site back up, felt strange yesterday that I could peruse the Forum, guess I'm addicted.

In case I haven't said it before, welcome to all you RCG guys, great to have you aboard!!
And now, getting back to the P 40, I received my Model Airplane News magazines and they have an article on the new airplane and it speaks highly of it which is great news!
If you haven't seen Brandon's mods, check those out, outstanding work.  I'm not clear on how he got the folding lights, but they are way cool!

But I'm wondering how everyone would feel about one thing regarding the kit.  Before the release, we on the forum were asked what we would like to see for markings.
There were a lot of suggestions as the P40 served in a lot of Airforces.  All of the suggestions were great and we had a real opportunity to have a truly international bird. The final decision was to go with the same scheme as the 980 version, not exactly creative.
What I would have like to see is something along the lines of what they're doing with the P38, two different colors might be a bit much for the P40, but how about no decals and a selection of markings included in the kit instead?
Or, at the very least, we get our own decals from the likes of Callie Graphics and make the version we want.  That way, we can repaint without removing decals.
I have nothing against RT Smith's markings, he is a hero and I'm proud to have my plane represent him.  But I'd have like to had the opportunity to do mine in say Tex Hill's markings or Pappy Boyington's markings or maybe I'd like to have one in RAF colors, or, as it was suggested, one representing the AAF in Pearl Harbor.
And what about the RZAF or the RAAF.  Seems to me that Australia and New Zealand relied heavily on the P40 in the early months of the war as well.
Until the Mustang, I don't think there was another bird that served so 'internationally' correct me if I'm wrong.

I'll +1 Grossman's comment about markings. So glad they are doing this with the FlightLineRC P-38. That way we don't have 6 planes at the field all with the same exact markings. Hopefully MRC and/or Diamond can convince FMS to follow suit.

The interesting thing, and I've posted a link to it somewhere on the forum, is that FMS DOES offer a generic P51D in silver, where you can make it whatever you want.  I suggested to MotionRC that they may want to look into that, but never heard anything back.

I can just picture a P40 round up, two different sizes, all the same markings!!

I'll see if I can't find the link again and update this post

                              Deadly Ryan!!
I should really shut the PC off and go downstairs and get to work.

The P40 needs that pilot put in!! and some detailing in the cockpit area.

Got the ball joint plyers yesterday so time to convert Shangrilla over to ball links.
So much going on here, pretty cool.

I know right. Now I need to dress up my cockpit. That pilot deserves a truly decked out office. For now I've got him installed and letting the glue dry. Mike and I are planning on braving the elements, wind today and get little Ryan some stick time.
                                Lol

                                  Glad you like ;) :)

I actually recommend glueing in a piece of Lite ply to the bottom of him and then screw him to the position you like. That's what I did with mine and moved him back just a bit. I think the stock location they had the pilot sit is just a bit to far forward.

So, it had to be done.
Took the old Pilot out and put the new guy in.  I agree, the stock position is too far forward so I moved him back as well.
I put a piece of armor plate behind him and then attached the headrest.  Also, I built an antiglare shield at the front, don't know if its stock, but it looks good, so....
