My Hellcat will be grounded for a while until I can get the retracts changed out for eflites. The stock ones are to fragile and undependable after I bounced it the other day they only work occasionally now.

Thats a drag! Did they bend FF? Is it hard to put the other retracts in place since they aren't made for the Hellcat?

No its not hard. I have installed the 1400mm fms corsair retracts in their place. The stock ones are soft like tin foil. Once they bend even once they are soft like butter after that. The plane is ACES though. Flies better than the fms version.

Yea the right bent back about an inch and the left just enough to catch in the wheel well. I'm going to install the eflite retracts. There is a video on YouTube showing the mod it doesn't look to be that hard. Not near as like putting the Freewing fw 190 retracts in my Flyzone 190. Also the hellcat retracts now jerk all the way up and down and only work about 50% of the time. They are really weak not worth replacing with stock units.

            Hey Farmflyer
Hey man I was just letting you know I got my retracts. I ordered the elite 10-15 size 90 degree. I think these are the right ones. There close and I hope the MOD is uneventful. Works light right now so I hope to get to it soon.

Let us know if the mods work. I used the medal up grades on my F6F, P47and P51. They work well so far. Of course, we seldom have very cold weather here is Southern California.

That's great Dewey Iv watched the mod vid a few times it doesn't look to be that hard to do. Let us know how it goes I'm confident after they're installed we won't have to replace them again. Iv got a couple of planes with eflite add on retracts with hundreds of combined flites and never had a problem.

That's good to hear Farmflyer. I'm torn between doing the MOD with the stock mounting plates or putting in the 1/4 ply. Also thought of removing the plastic all together and making my own mount from a wooden block that would be one piece. I want these retracts to be in for the long haul. Like modding but rather be flying.

These retracts would work...just change the covers.

I'll do exactly that Tirediron. I consider you a master and coming from you I'd be stupid not to take the advice. Thank-you for coming on and giving the recommendation. That does seem the easiest way to. Might I pm you sometime when I need a little help with some other project that may arise.

The best thing to do is order the Dynam Corsair and put these retracts on it then you will have the Dynam Corsair retracts as spares for the Hellcat and you get an extra plane...this is the logic I use all the time.

I would be glad to help any time.

Thanks TiredIron I wouldn't have thought of those. Have you tried these on the Hellcat. I'm wondering if they need any mod to fit the mount holes etc.

No but they should be the same pattern, I've been looking at them for my Dynam Hellcat and Corsair as I'm sure the stock ones will fail eventually...I think I will also get the wheel set.

Good plan I ran your option on getting the Dynam corsair by my financial adviser (wife) It was vetoed 😔

Forgiveness is easier to come by than permission. My wife came out to the hanger today and asked "How many planes do you need?"...I simply answered "None".

Lol good answer. There is a big difference between need and want. If I really wanted it she wouldn't say anything. Iv got 2 new planes I'm still sorting out and a few old ones I want to knock the dust off of so I'm good with what I have for now.

Iv decided when I get around to it I'm going with the eflites. They have the coil for a little suspension and I have never had one fail.

You can put a piece of heatswrink over that coil and it will look at a lot better.

                                        • The retracts suck serious butt on this model. The plane is a 100% winner. Sucks the metal is so soft. I have the pitts motor in mine. Its so much fun. But I often just belly land it to save the retracts.
