    H-King Beechcraft Baron EP-GP 1760mm (69.2") (ARF) w/Servoless Retracts

Check this out, Nice new Beechcraft Baron ARF from HK. Not really my cup of tea, nice looking model just the same. I think there are many that would really want one of these. I've never flown a model Baron, but I have flown the real thing on more than one occasion. The real Baron is a high performance airplane. "High Performance Light Twin". Fast and slippery. Good thing to keep in mind when ordering one of these.

I won a ride on a Beech Baron when I was a paperboy (got the most new customers that season). It was magical. I need to get rid a couple more big planes before there's room for this one. I had a real hard time finding hanger space for the T. Otter. You're killing me, Woody.

I would venture to say that it might be the one VQ models sells but now with a different color scheme.

I'd say it is the same plane but it now has the retracts already installed. I have the VQ Baron already only difference looks like the covering and pre installed retracts

I'm sure it's the same plane but HobbyKing had it built for them and they put their own retracts in at the factory or in their prep room. It's just like the Twin Otter - a VQ plane sold by HobbyKing, branded accordingly, different covering. I have a feeling that we haven't seen the last of these VQ models being marketed by HK with small mods and additions. Only thing is, I can never see any prices on the VQ site.
So, how does the Baron fly? Is yours gas or electric?

PS. Going to the VQwarbirds.com, prices can be found. HobbyKing is much cheaper considering they give you the retracts installed. In the case of the Twin Otter, HobbyKing is MUCH cheaper.

I can't say how it flies since it is still in the box. I will see if it's the same because I placed an order through HK. Yes it is a lot cheaper seeing the retracts are already installed. The VQ Baron is a nice plane so I don't mind having a back up.Here is a link to the Baron if anyone is interested.https://hobbyking.com/en_us/h-king-b...asc=5840234153

You bought another one when the first one is still in the box? You must really like this plane.

I have always liked the Baron. Had a Royal kit way back in the day and sold it unfortunately, can only imagine what it would be worth now. I also have a Baron 58 from Scaleflying.com approximately 5 or 6 years ago that was a composite ARF that is just gorgeous . In this hobby I found if you like something you had better grab it while it's available because it may only be there for a short time. :disappointed:https://www.scaleflying.com/Beechcra...-Composite-ARF

Well i just click it a few minutes ago. It says it will take 7 to 9 days to get here. Let's wait to see if it will have the same strong structure as the VQ has. Now i need that HK upload the manual or if someone knows where to download it?

I downloaded the manual from VQ just to see what's involved in the build. It appears to be the same plane. In fact, it looks like HobbyKing took the specs from the VQ site. http://www.vqmodel.com/NewVQModel_25...tion_guide.pdf
Since it's the same plane, made at the same factory, I'm sure the structure will the same strength.
I did the same for the Twin Otter. The two downloaded manuals are identical, down to the same VQ logo.

Due to that, i see on the manual that it takes 2 standard servos, but the other 5 are mini, micro or what?

I didn't pay that close attention in the Baron manual. For my Twin Otter, I used what I had laying around. The standard servos are really big according to the holes that they have in the plane. Those are likely for the elevator and rudder as those go through channels and the wires are quite large. There'll be two wires for the elevator and two for rudder (running in opposite directions - rear to the rudder and forward to the steering), which have quite a bit of resistance, so need big servos. I'm not sure how that's going to work on the Baron as it has retracts, so the nose steering will be different from what's shown in the manual. For the wings, those servo slots are quite small and likely will take something from a 9g to a 12g servo. If it were me, I'd wait till you got the kit and see how big the servo slots are and then size them up from there and order at that time. These VQ models are meant for modelers who are experienced with scratch build but made easier for those who aren't. Thus, some custom sizing will have to take place. I don't think they mean to hand it to us with everything spelled out.

I believe anyone that has assembled a wood structured ARF from any of the ARF manufacturers will be able to put this one together. It is not a PNP foam plane and does require a little more work to get flight worthy, but totally worth it for the end product. My feeling is that motor is more than you will need, I think two Rimfire 32s will do the job, just my opinion though. You could go with the 46s and just power back.

In my case i prefer an overpowered plane for the " just in case".😆😆

Just checked the price, for $10 more I'd go with the 46s also. Like you said better to have more than not enough for the just in case. I have two of each of those motors so it will come down to which ones will balance without adding dead weight.

In my OV-10 Bronco i'm putting 2 rimfire .55. taking that i'm considering the .42 or .46 for this Baron.

One problem with the 46's is the weight , u might end up having to put lead in the tail... just like the VQ one this will be a fairly heavy plane so pays to keep it light...
in my VQ t42 i used Dualsky 3520 Eco 720KV and it ended up at 5.4kgs with 2x 4000mah batteries
