    Coming along very nicely!

The D-VIII is such an iconic WWI bird. I still miss my 1/3 scale. Rumor has it that BUSA may be coming out with a 1/3 scale D-VIII kit. Just might have to build a new one.

It is 95% ready just waiting on graphics from Callie and a few more things to do on it.. I checked the balance on it and I just need to add a little nose weight, got the radio system working. Just have to wait on the weather now its too cold and windy here.

MB, Beautiful model and ditto on adding Spandau's Maxim LMG-08 gun, but was there one or two? Matters not...Bravo Zulu, Sir. Best, LB

I have 2 Spandau gun kits that I have to assemble and install
That is one of the items I have to complete on it.

I have the Spandau guns installed and the graphics applied. Just got to wait for a decent weather day for the maiden! I have to clean up the aileron wires yet.

Here is some pics outside in the sun. I shouldn't have any problems seeing this one in flight.

Mad Baron This doesn't sound good.

Does it look anything like this? You may remember my 1/3 scale D8. I feel your pain brother

Never got a chance to fly it. The plane is too tail heavy. I hung 6oz on the prop and it just barely was level. I feel that it would need 6-7oz of nose weight and that will add a lot of stress on the landing gear and the wing struts. It hurts to look at your plane I always hate when I plow one into the ground.

Mad Baron I know that seems like a lot of weight, but for this, and similar, airframes, it's not bad. A pound or more is normal for WWI birds at 1/4 scale. My 1/3 scale was flying with 7.5lbs of lead in the nose. Add what's needed and enjoy it. It's too nice a bird to be a hangar queen.

Here is the problem...you need a bigger heavier motor. Will the 26 fly it....maybe. But a 35-45 would do so much better. Six ounces of weight on a plane this size is nothing. I added about 2 pounds to the nose of my BUSA 1/4 scale SPAD.

I do have a Zenoa engine but it has the same weight as the NGH engine that I have in it. I moved the plane to the back burner for now. Have some other things come up that are a little more important.

I finally got my DVIII balanced and ready for the maiden flight. I took off the NGH engine and installed my Zenoah 26 engine. The Zenoah was 2lbs heaver than the NGH engine. I still had to add 30oz of weight to it, it took a quite of more nose weight than I thought it needed. Looking forward to the first flight!

Got the maiden flight in today on the DVIII! It flew very well but still seems a little tail heavy but I did get a 5 minute flight in and greased the landing...it was a good day except for my OV10 it had a rough landing and snapped the pin on the nose gear
