I did a bit of measuring on my C-47 and it seems it can take a tire up to 70mm. That's in keeping with the size of the P-51 tires. I'm going to order a couple of cheap light tires of the same size.
What I'd like to know is how you got the old tires off and how you attached and fixed the bigger tires on.

The P-51 tires are very light, they probably weigh less than the stock ones. I drilled out the axle which seems to be fiberglass or carbon fiber. I also used the P-51 tail wheel (they come as a set).

When installing the new tires, did you make a new axles with threaded ends? Your picture looks like you've got a nut on the end.

No, I used a screw and just cut it down to the correct length.

Great! Just ordered a set of P-51 tires. I had a spare set but they went on the P-38.
