Hi JamesonC, welcome to Hobby Squawk! The Nemesis is a well balanced racing plane. It follows well in Strega's footsteps. Keep in mind though that the Nemesis' 2B stock prop is a 10x10, which is closer to the Strega's 4B stock prop in speed than a 10x12 would be. If you're after speed you want the second number (pitch factor) to increase, not necessarily the first number (diameter). I haven't tried a higher pitch factor prop on this Nemesis personally. If you don't already have one, I recommend using a wattmeter to monitor your experiments, as using anything but the stock prop is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

I've got two 12x12 props ready for flying tomorrow. One cut to 10x12 and one 11x12. My strega flew 89mph all stock on the 4 blade that's why I was expecting a little more performance stock vs stock with a higher kv motor and 2 blade prop. I'll keep toying with it and see what I can get out of it. Really miss my strega and I got this one to fill the void. I will admit ground handling and landing is much better on the nemesis. Hey guys, I'm stumped and need a little help. I had a small mishap with my Nemesis last time out and stalled it coming in to land. It nosed in from pretty low and wasn't a hard hit. Initial inspection looked like it was just gonna need a prop adapter and spinner (didn't even break the prop.) After installing the replacement parts from Motion, the gap behind the cowl is larger than what I remember and the down angle seems to be too large as well. I pulled everything apart again and double checked and nothing else seems to be bent or broken and everything is tight. Am I missing something here??2 Photos

Hi JamesonC, I'm sorry to hear about your stall. Have you compared the original shaft length to the replacement? Also, it's difficult to tell from your picture, but is the spinner backplate fully seated against the prop shaft? They are hexagonally keyed, and must be aligned so that the backplate slips over the shaft. In your picture, it looks like that isn't happening.

JamesonC.........check your motor mount area.
Base on the exterior foam wrinkling/fracturing in your pics I would wager that you have some pretty good foam compression internally around that bulkhead which is causing the down thrust to be apparently more than normal.

Yes it is. It is fully seated on the hex. It worried me that the replacement prop adapter is listed for the 980mm line and doesn't have the Nemesis listed but when compared to the old one, it did appear correct but I couldn't measure exact since the old one is a bit bent now!Originally posted by Alpha.MotionRC View PostHi JamesonC, I'm sorry to hear about your stall. I will look again, I saw nothing back there while I had it apart. It barely hit and barely wrinkled the foam. And, the battery hatch still fits right so I know it didn't compress the front really. I'd recommend calling into the Service Team at 224-633-9090, M-F 9am-6pm CST, or submit a service ticket at https://www.motionrc.com/pages/contact , asking them to measure the stock prop shaft on the PNP aircraft and ensure that length matches the prop shaft in the Spare Parts section. This information is provided from the manufacturer but sometimes they make a mistake and amid 20,000 part numbers we can't always catch the error before a customer sees it. In the case of the 980mm class, they did have a couple variations of prop shaft length, so hopefully it's as simple as sending you the longer one and adjusting the website to match.Originally posted by JamesonC View Post

JamesonC, did you ever resolve the motor angle issue? The pictures you sent look to me like the metal X motor mount is bent or else the plastic mount has been bent or moved. If it were mine, I'd pull out the motor and check for a bent mount.
I thought mine was pretty slow using the stock prop and my old batteries. But once on 6s, it screams!

Sounds similar to what I ran across after a mishap with my FW P-51, I replaced the original motor with an FMS 650kv afterwards and it seemed to sit a bit funny, with hardly any foam compression. Ended up shimming it so it was more in keeping with my other FW P-51, flys fine. If everything checks out in regards to the motor mount and the shaft is spinning true, then it has to be the firewall mount that is out of place for some reason, is all I can think of.

No. Flown it twice like that and it flies fine. I'm assuming it's the foam compressed making it look that way. As for the speed, yeah I'm still disappointed. After flying my strega on the stock setup with a 11x12 prop... this isn't close! But, it handles better on the ground and does fly pretty great!

I push the envelope pretty good, running a 6S and a 10x10 (yes the esc and motor handle fine). Question -- how much room is in the fuse of the nemesis? I can wedge in a 2700 mah 6S 45C in the Strega with minimal mods.

I have a new RocHobby Nemesis and I can't get the CG right. With a 4S 2700 all the way forward against the firewall, it is still at least 5mm tail heavy (50mm from the front of the wing). Even with a 4S 3300 all the way forward, it is almost the same. It requires some down trim to fly, but on take off, it noses over without the immediate application of some up elevator immediately. Any ideas?
