    Re: Dynam WACO

    Greetings Baron,

    Great Point!

I have found this to be true of the Roc Hobby Waco as well. If one has a bit longer screws on hand I would recommend implementing/acquiring them as well.

      Hello Tom.MotionRC

You said in an email dated August 9th, 2014 that due to popular demand, you would be getting Dynam Wacos on your next shipment. Is that still true and when will that be? I want to order at least 2 when they come.

      Please reply

      Thank-you,

        Greetings,

        A valid question.......

I believe there are quite a few avid MRC customers anxious to see the response.

          Re: Dynam WACO

Thank-you Bill - Incidentally, my RocHobby FMS Waco will be delivered, per UPS, tomorrow. Anyway, I was told by someone on the phone on Monday that they probably will not carry the Dynam Waco due to "competition" with the RocHobby FMS Waco. I saw this discussion on the forum last night so I thought I needed to respond and get clarification because it appears we have "conflicting" answers to this topic

Dynam Waco has been ordered. It is currently in production at Dynam's factory and should ship in two weeks. Adding 30 days for transit to our warehouse we expect it to be available for purchase in approx 6 weeks provided no shipping and/or port delays. Thanks for the input and continued support.

I was wondering, if you guy's will be putting up a 'coming soon' splash page for the Waco and/or be providing a "notify me when it arrives" link??

You guys waiting to order the Dynam WACO will not be disappointed. Mine has well over 200 flights and is still going strong. It is a great flying plane.

It s one of my planes that, if lost, I would replace as soon as possible. And knowing MRC is going to have it makes me feel better as I continue to put flights on mine.

I modded mine to represent a PT-14, including wrapping it with vinyl.

Very nicely done. I too have a Waco which I simply adore however, at first glance I would never have suspected yours to be anything other than what it appears to be.

                            Thanks.

Stearman got the vast majority of defense contracts for trainers up to and through WW II. But a few WACOs ended up as trainers. The Army designated the Stearman, PT-17 and the WACO, PT-14. The Army WACOs had a simplified cowl or no cowl at all and also had a simpler and sturdier landing gear. I tried to duplicate the major spotting differences between the civilian WACO and the military version.

Hello wvrailfan and Rocketeer - Can you tell me on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the hardest to fly, how you would rate the Dynam Waco's flight characteristics?

                                Re: Dynam WACO

Even though the WACO is a very capable plane when it comes to aerobatics, it also slows down nicely for landings and can be very docile. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate it's difficulty to fly at about a 2.25.

It's not a good first plane, but if you can fly a 4 ch trainer comfortably, this would be an okay 2nd or 3rd plane.

There is an active thread on this plane, with a lot of info, on RC Groups http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1706634

The PT-14 is also a beautiful Bi-Plane . I really like the detail with the rigging , it just adds so much to the overall presence of the plane . I've heard nothing but good words for it as well

                                      Re: Dynam WACO

                                      Greetings,

I would have to agree and place the degree of difficulty on the Dynam WACO at 2ish.

As mentioned the Wacos' have a docile flight characteristic and tend to fly on "rails" as the saying goes.
IF, you are already comfortable flying a 4-channel aircraft and the characteristics associated with taking off and landing 'tail-draggers.'

I have both the Dynam (although I plan to obtain another one when MRC receives them) and the Roc Hobby and I adore them both. For appearances, I like the Roc Hobby due to the very pleasing effect of the rigging on it. However, I very much like the size and visibility of the Dynam version with its additional 10" of wingspan.

Either way, you will enjoy flying the Waco.

                                          RE: Dynam WACO

                                          Greetings Ron (IVFLYER),

Suggestion #1 - Take the rigging line supplied with the Waco and toss it in the can.
Suggestion #2 - Go to Wal-Mart and pick up some black elastic thread. You will love working with this stuff. Because it's elastic, your knots will almost tighten themselves and when you make your connections, by stretching the thread a bit then knotting it, it will pull back and give you a really nice mildly taught line. Just beautiful!!

In my humble opinion, on the Roc Hobby Waco, the rigging is a must and really worth the few extra moments required for its installation. And as already mentioned, the elastic thread makes a snap.

Comparing the two Wacos' I think the Roc Hobby version it extremely well engineered for fit and finish.
The Dynam is also good but not quite as solid and (again in my opinion only) a slight step down in quality. This is negated by its size advantage.

I highly recommend that you check out the mod for the landing gear covers created by Grossman56. I believe it is under "All Us Newbie Pilots, Let's Share" page 4. It is magnificant, and an excellent solution to an on-going issue of keeping the covers attached, especially on landings.

Hope this helps, if not shout back.
