    Hi TiredlronGRB,
did you use the full P47 main gear system(including Servo) or just the struts?

I used struts for a FMS 1500mm P-47 and used the stock T-28 wheels but had to take the tires off and sand the sides of the wheels down so they would fit on the axle, I used a sheet of 280 wet/dry laying on a smooth flat surface and just sanded down the hub till it was flush with the wheel.

I didn't use the lower gear door cover (they grab grass anyway) but I used the top one and just made new wires to connect it to the strut. The pins that go in the retract need the flats re-cut to center the strut/wheel assembly. I have a Freewing 80mm A-10 nose gear I plan to use as well.

Thanks CZ Flyer. I will have a more detailed look at my T28's gear for modification,

Had 1 come unsoldered on me, fortunately I wasn't in the air, discovered it on the ground.

I repaired mine by installing a 1/32" plywood shim between the mounting flanges of the gear and the plastic mounting plate to put more distance for the motor portion of the retract to flex without touching the foam surface, then surface mounted white plastic plates on the top surface to provide more area to prevent the foam from breaking through.

The one weakness in the main gear when the grass field is less than perfectly manicured, is that the gear retract structure flexes enough during taxi to put enough pressure on the thin foam between the wheel well and the top surface of the wing to break through the top of the wing. This has happened to me and at least two others mentioned on Hobbysquawk, This is still a really great performing airplane.

    Welcome to Hobby Squawk Bob!

The gears are very solid and she lands so gentle I doubt they will ever be an issue.

I set my high rates at 100% on everything and low rates are as follows...

    Aileron 70% 30% expo
    Elevator 60% 40% expo
    Rudder 100% 30% expo
