  • Hello all. I opened my Heng Long Professional Sherman on Monday and I am in love with the tank and feel like a kid again. I'm having so much fun just playing with it and pushing boxes around my basement and running over objects on the floor.

I do have a couple of minor issues. One of the covers for the rear metal wheels is so loose it won't stay on. Also one of the the screw covers for the bogies fell out. What should I use to secure the covers and still be able to remove them when needed?

Now for the front drive wheels. They are also metal and secured to the the tank with Allen screws. The heads of the screws stick out so far that there is no way to even temporarily get the wheel covers to stay on. It seems like Allen head screws should not have been used. The only thing I can think of is to drill out the center hole of the wheel cap a lot bigger so the the Allen screw head passes through the wheel cover.

    Anyone else have these issues?

Use a "small" amount silicone sealer to hold the hub caps on. The sprocket hub many of us use thin magnets glued to the cap which then hold the cap in place

      • I use Blue Locktite to secure screws

        • Change the existing cap head bolts to button head bolts for the drive sprockets, and use a spring washer, or star washer under them to stop them coming undone. They are a slimmer profile. Then use PVA, or rubber solution glue to hold the wheel covers on.m

          • Our HL Sherman is 5 years old. It has been the most reliable, dependable and probably the most enjoyable tank we have. I recall something about the track wheels loosening but a little blue locktite fixed that many years ago.
