  • IR "Tank in Attack" photos from past events and battles....

I though I would start a thread where those that use their 1/16 r/c tanks in "IR Battles", "Fun Runs" and "Trial Courses" can share the fun in photos with others. So here are a few of mine to help start the visual fun and learning about what others are doing with their tanks. Can't wait to see your photos too.

All types of tank shapes and sizes can be found at the local events I attend.

One of the most challenging and fun battle fields to test your tank and driving skills on (located in San Diego Ca.). Here my Abrams is paired up with an M60 to test a flanking maneuver through a very exposed soft deep sand area. In an IR battle we would have been shot to pieces.

Rubicon99 This is fascinating stuff! Who makes the building dioramas? Some of them appear [partially] pre-fabricated? Or are they all scratch-built?

The buildings are mostly scratch built with a few that are repurposed toys play sets houses. Some city scapes are incredibly detailed, but the ones are on the more simple fast set up side.

Rubicon99 Wow! That is some really neat tanking going on there! I can't imagine how fun a tank battle of that scale must be. I am looking forward to checking out Motions tank offerings to see what it's all about!

What kind of drone footage could you get of something like that?

Depends on the openness of the battle field and the number of tanks fighting. We have used drones before and got some great videos. I unfortunately don’t have the videos anymore just screen shots from them. Waiting on posting those photos until the right time.

Are these events typically indoor or outdoor? Are they something that requires AMA to do? How could one go about starting up a club or holding an event?

I will have to start a new thread on this topic to answer it. But the short.... NO AMA is required.

I look forward to the new thread. Another question would be how can one find out if clubs and/or events may already exist nearby? Is there any organization that oversees activities for such?

RichJohnson may be able to chime in on this. He runs the 619th TB San Diego and can probably tell us how the club structure/creation works, assuming there's an organizing body of some sort. I used to do RC Warship Combat 20 years ago and there were organizing bodies out there, but my group of guys were just an informal group.

Tamyia Abrams in close contact village IR tank battle. Not the best place for such a large tank to maneuver in.
