  • Water proofing the MFU

Hey guys what's a easy way to water proof the MFU. Yep I'm that guy that wants to get his tank totally FILTHY!!LOL. Would the good ole balloon trick work ok?

It’s a lot of work. Don’t forget it’s not just the MFU it’s also the battery, on/off switch and all the motors.

Power switch already moved to the inside and battery compartment sealed when I did the magnet thing, motors would be able to withstand getting wet, used to run fully submerged motor's in my rc boats as bow and stern thrusters. It was mainly the mfu that had me worried cause I am still a bit of a HL virgin and don't really know how robust the systems are.

I've found the speaker to be the weak link in mine.

When I was driving my TK 6.0 T90 through deep puddles (man I love the look of dirty water splashing over the front hull glacis plate) I got enough water inside for the tank to shut down. I saved the MFU by drying it out but the speaker unit was a loss. It started only making staticy sounds and then stopped working altogether.

Ok, well I think I'd almost have to submerg the tank to do that, cause I have moved the speaker from the floor to the rear of the hull. Believe it or not I found doing that has changed the way people look at the tank cause the sound is coming from the rear of the vehicle.

Had a idea bout keeping water from the mfu, what do ships have to stop water going from one end of the hull to the other? Just what you have here, water proof bulkheads. I don't go quite as crazy as to submerg the glacis so I thought all I needed was something to stop water getting to the mfu and here it is. I know it is water proof cause once installed I filled it with water and it didn't leak

Bit hard to see, made them out of clear plastic, all I had available. Just have to see if they cope with the abuse of driving offroad now
