Taigen Sherman Road Wheel Bushing - Replacement

Rich, I think the current TS-5 is too light, well, neither one is great, gives me something to do once the replacement compressor gets here.

Here is my input on the OD colors from my tanks. From left to right: 1. factory Taigen M4/76, 2. factory Taigen M4/75, 3. Tamiya OD on M36, and 4. factory HL on their M4. Sorry about the glossy lacquer layers I put on my tanks. It made the color on the tanks a little darker. But I found that if I have it on, it would be easy for my to brush or blow the dirt off after I've driven them outdoor.

A bunch of beauties! After signing up to this group, I don’t feel so bad that I’ve purchased a bunch of tanks with multiple of the same…lol. I am currently about to build my first American Tank—Tamiya M1A2 Abrams.

David, they are supposed to get dirty. Spray some dulcoat or flat on them and you will be quite happy with how they look. Rubicon and I rarely clean our tanks and as you know LA is quite dusty. I blow them off now and then but that’s about it. They collect dirt until I need to service them then I use a paint brush to dust them off.
the only time I wash them is after hitting the beach in my landing craft, can’t let them get all ate up from the salt water at the pond.

David, looks good all lined up. Not sure when your Tami was painted, but the TS-5 I used (bought 2 weeks ago from local shop) turned out much lighter with more brown as Rich indicated.

Sclui, I used the TS-5 too. But I noticed that when applied the coat of lacquer to protect it, it would make the color darker. That is why you see the different between mines and yours.

Rich, the problem with me is that after having fun with the tanks outdoor, I bring my tanks back into my den and put them back on the shelves. My spouse often comes in, wipes and cleans the den. She will not be please to see those dirt :-(

David, that actually made some sense. I used the same TS-5 to touch up the Taigen factory on one spot, then shot over with semi-gloss, and that particular area ended up very close to the Taigen factory color. I still want to try the 319 suggested by Rich. BTW, I still think it's nuts for the factory to glue on all the parts on an unpainted spare hull, most of them can be brushed, but still....

Rich, I took your advice and put a flat coat on my Sherman this AM. They are dried now. They do look much better. They don't look like shining cars anymore, lol. As long as I have the lacquer coat underneath, I feel at ease now when I take them out playing. Thx!

I have not tried the TS5, that sounds like a rattle can spray paint. I only use rattle cans for the primer coat and I use thin automotive primer. For color I use bottles and airbrush my tanks. So, I am only comment on colors and mixes in relation to bottles sprayed with an airbrush. MCW does not make spray cans as far as I know. It as I said, their enamel colors differ a bit from their laquers. Their 319 Enamel looks horrible. But the laquer is perfect.

I use both types from Tamiya. The colors are the same even though the # are different. The spray can is TS-5 and the acrylic bottle is XF-62.

I can confirm what David showed and said above, have these 2 variants as well. I think I will shoot a semi gloss over the TS-5 on the spare new hull and see the effect when fully dried.
