The Sturmgeschütz III (Stug III) assault gun was Germany's most popular fully tracked armored fighting vehicle during World War II. It utilized a modified Panzer III chassis, replacing the turret with an armored, fixed superstructure mounting a more powerful gun. Initially intended as a mobile assault gun for direct-fire infantry support, the Stug III was continually modified, and like later Jagdpanzer vehicles, was employed as a tank destroyer. The F8 variant featured an improved and more heavily-armored hull compared with earlier versions.

Heng Long has produced RC tanks more than 20 years, and their products offer an ideal starting point for new customers wanting to explore the world of RC tanks. All of Motion RC’s Heng Long 1/16 scale tanks utilize the latest TK7 MFCB for outstanding control, performance, versatility, and upgrade potential!

    Durable Tracks

Confidently conquer terrain with durable tracks that are easy to service. Professional Versions feature metal tracks.
    Omnidirectional Proportional Control

The new-generation TK7 Multi-Function Control Board (MFCB ) delivers an unsurpassed driving response and personalized configuration options.
    Airsoft BB Launch

Safely fire 6mm plastic airsoft BBs at the included paper target at short ranges. *Take safety precautions and wear eye protection.
    Exhaust Effect

Glycerin-based "exhaust effect" simulates engine exhaust for added realism.
    IR Battle Ready

Engage in friendly infrared ("IR") combat with other TK7-equipped tanks, both inflicting hits upon and receiving hits from opponents! Sounds and action signal each hit, until the 5th hit disables the tank. After 10 seconds, the disabled tank restarts and can rejoin the fight!
Independent Suspension and Durable Steel-Geared Gearbox

Reliable steel geared gearboxes transfer power while independent suspension provide traction over rough surfaces.
    Features:
    • Latest Generation TK7 Multi-Function Control Board (MFCB)
    • Proportional acceleration, steering, turret traverse, and gun elevation/depression
    • Programmable radio settings for the amount of recoil, the sensitivity in turns, the overall sensitivity in acceleration, high speed, and low-speed modes, etc.
    • Smoke effect (On/Off)
    • Headlights and Brake lights (On/Off)
    • Volume (five settings including Off)
    • Four different sound sets. Each contains a unique engine start, idle, accelerating, traverse, elevate, machine gun, cannon firing, and shutdown sound
    • Track Recoil (Three settings from low, medium, and high) -This shudders the tank briefly rearward to simulate recoil when firing the main cannon
    • Fires a 6mm plastic BB (10 meters with minimal accuracy and limited velocity, but should still be treated with caution and with adequate eye protection)
    • Fires an invisible IR signal to be used as part of Heng Long's Infrared Battle System, which disables other tanks when hit five times during simulated combat. Up to 20 tanks at the same time can battle each other!
    • Independent suspension on all road wheels

So am I correct that HL never offered this TD with their version of "barrel recoil"? Has anyone fit an Asiatam barrel recoil/elevation unit into this?

All 5 of my personal TD III were installed with barrel recoils. Only the 3 for loaners to kids at our event that I left them be. I use this converter instead of having to pay $70 for the 7.1 board.

Thank you David. So to be clear you're using this signal converter on a servo actuated recoil barrel? I've been rewiring the mechanical Asiatam recoil units for the TK 7.0 with good success, curious if the Asitam recoil will fit?

I purchased the servo recoil base unit from Richard Johnson. I tossed the HL barrel base away since I don't use the BB but convert all to IR battle settings. I have never used the Asitam recoil. Please share with me the source. I would like to look into it also. There is a clip on You Tube that a hobbyist shared his connection of this little board to the 7.0 HL.

Out of curiosity, how much postage do you pay, or do you buy multiple items? For approximately £8 this seems like good value, until you add postage from Germany to the UK. Which works out at approximately £29.

To me it would me $11.90 USD using DHL. The most I've paid for shipping from Dominique was $25 but it was a decent sized order. His shipping method is accurate but takes up to several weeks. Whereas Dave at Forgebear's shipping price starts at $40 which is significantly more but usually arrives 1-2 days after ordering.

I ordered the Torro metal lower chassis, road wheels and axle sets one week ago. The total is 241EURO with shipping and excluding VAT. The price is excellent. I have chosen the DHL shipping. This is my first order with rctank.de and the package is clearing the US custom in one week.

The postage is dependent on the total order weight. The lower metal chassis is heavier than most plastic RTR tanks. I consider the $49 shipping charge to US for DHL to be very reasonable. I hope that you can ship to UK for less?!

I am looking at getting a Stug. Heard they were a lot of fun. Is the professional edition necessary or will the upgrade edition work fine for awhile? Do you need the metal tracks?

By the Professional version because you will end up spending more upgrading it to the same level just to get it to run reliably especially if you intend to use it outdoors.

Agree re metal sprocket, idler & track. One disadvantage to keep in mind is what it and all assault guns have in outdoor battles. One ends up spinning the tank to keep the gun on target, which is the most likely maneuver for detracking if it's in rough ground, like soft dirt, leaves, grass or bark. However, being close to the ground they are good at hiding. Hey, just like the real ones!

But they are fun. And, you can achieve a very low silhouette by mounting the IR receiver in the commander's hatch.

The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Both Stugs look great. Really like the Camouflage on the first one. Thanks for sharing.

I'm just a casual armor hobbyist with modest experience. Have a few Torro/Taigen and Tamiya in the armory. Unfortunately, there are no clubs in my area.

Recently added my first Heng Long, the Stug pro. Within the context of it's design parameters I found it quite likeable. Wish the battery compartment was not stepped so a larger could be fitted. Decent low speed manageability. Good starting point.
Be great to see a good jagdpanzer 38t hit the marketplace!
