    TK-7.0 to TK-7.1 Upgrade Advantages and Dis-Advantages

What would be the advantages of upgrading a HL TK-7.0 RC tank to the TK-7.1 MFCU system?
And what would be the dis-advantages of upgrading a HL TK-7.0 RC tank to the TK-7.1 MFCU system?
I know there are advancements in controlling of added electronic system parts in the TK-7.1 MFCU system, but how would it work with and advance a earlier tank with all current TK-7.0 controlled electrical components? What electrical components could be added that are not there already?

    Generally speaking.

Huge difference compared to anything older then 2019. The 6.0 - 7.1 systems are far superior in every aspect to the older 5.3 and down systems.

The only drawback to the 7 series is the number of engines sounds that come with them. There used to be four in the 6 series and now only two.

The 7.1 is best if you want to add features like servo recoil and elevation or you are planning on run 390+ motors at high voltages.

From an IR battle perspective the 7.1 has some features that I find advantageous over the slightly older 2019-2022 era 6.0-6.1. The number of hits to destroyed is down from 6 to 5, there is a built in delay to fire of 3 seconds and the 7.1 can shoot on the move, meaning it does not have to stop first before it can fire which makes the firing very smooth. The older systems had to stop momentarily this and made for a jerky firing motion.

I know about the engine sounds limitations. What exactly are the new functions of servo recoil and elevation used for and what components would need to be added to use these functions? How would they be controlled by the transmitter?

Simply your canon recoil can now have servo operation which is faster, smoother and more realistic looking. Same with barrels elevation.

These are stand alone add on option available for HL tanks. They do require some RC and modeling skills to install.

The features are controlled via the stock 7.1 transmitter same as any other features. The 7.1 comes with a short manual of operation that shows what control work or activates each feature.

Do you have a url link to these optional add-on servos to purchase them as I have not seen them anywhere available for purchase. And is there some instructional video available on the installation somewhere?

There are still 4 engine sounds on the 7 series boards they are just split. where as there was a 6.0 board with all 4 sounds and a 6.1 with all 4 sounds, the 7 series introduced a 7.0a and b with two of the original 4 sounds each.

True, but it is random unless you know the model number that has the exact sound pack you want. So in the OPs case it is easier to say it has only two sounds, which they do.

Not really, mato mart in canada tells you what your gonna get, toucan hobby in the US does too, as does ozarmor and aliexpress.

Sure in the first few months of its release stores just sold what ever but that was over a year ago and things have changed. Click image for larger version

Exactly. I had searched how to identify which sound set comes with which board and the early easy explanation was the color of the antenna, Red these sounds, Black these other sounds. But it turns out this is incorrect at least with my tanks..

How do you identify the sound sets per board otherwise? is there a item code number or stock number that properly identifies them?

I really don't understand why they removed the Maybach 230 sound since it's virtually the same for 5 tanks. The only Tank with the Maybach 230 sound that I have is my Taigen Tiger I.

Toucan didn't list the sound when I got my T34-85 on Amazon and Motion doesn't list it when I got them direct for my 3 other tanks that should sound like a Tiger.

Why? Probably having something to do with money. They probably save a few pennies somewhere. Not sure how, but money is what motivates them. Maybe the 2-channel sound chip costs 1 cent less than the 4-channel one.

                        I get that.

It's also why Motion doesn't include the screwdriver like Toucan does. But common sense a King Tiger Should sound like a Tiger as well as a Panther and Jagdpanther. So now I'd be up to four 7.0 boards. Yayyy another $100.+ rabbit hole.

Thank you though Derek. I appreciate your response.

Toucan hobbies on EBay sales them or just Google HengLong servo recoil.

My guess is that they slap whatever board they have laying there because most consumers won't know the difference. Those of us that do are a very small set of their customers.

7.0 also came out at the hight of the chip shortage so it could be that the chips they needed where unavailable. We won't ever know the true answer but we can speculate when v8 comes out

Are any of you using the TK-7.1 system on any of your tanks? If so, what changes are there on the transmitter controls to effect operations on the tank? I see there are many servo connections on the TK-7.1 with also the K1 & K2 buttons which state they reverse recoil/lifting and control lifting angle of cannon respectfully.
Have any of you-all installed these recoil/lifting servo components and how do you like or dis-like the way they operate?
Or, are you-all waiting on the expected TK-8.0 system to come out before making the TK-7.1 upgrade?

Changes from what? Most of this has been covered in this thread, so is there a specific concern you have?

I have eight (maybe more!) 7's. Basic operations are the same for 6.0, 6.1, 7.0 & 7.1; forward, backward, turning, turret rotation, gun elevation and gun firing, headlights and taillights. Some circuit sockets are different, and the 7's allow adjusting turning radius, etc. The biggest difference between the 6.0 and 6.1, and the 7.0 and the 7.1, are the addition of servo operated elevation and recoil circuits. This is for builders of modified or other brand tanks that don't have built in motors for that function. For instance, my Mato Sherman does not have a motorized gun elevation, so I built a servo linkage and used the 7.1 feature to activate it. I also used it for a Vandramodel conversion kits, like from a Pz IV to a StuG IV and a Sherman to an M10. Stock HL tanks use motors for elevation and recoil, so the servo circuits are not used. The K buttons can help with the servos, if for instance the servo you use needs to have its direction reversed to simulate the recoil correctly, but they won't apply to motorized circuits.

All those extra sockets are only useful if you have a function you need it for. For instance, there are turn signal circuits on the 7.0 and 7.1 boards, but since tanks don't have them, they're superfluous.

There is one feature in the 7's that I like. You can turn off the "spin in place" feature. I have no need for that on my tanks, and I don't want to activate it inadvertently.
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Yes, I have done several and it works great. Most can be seen on my YT channel. I'm suprised nobody here has mentioned without a jumper in port CN6, the servo recoil will not function.

To add: No special servo is required. A 9gr Micro servo is all you need, although I like Savox high speed servos myself. My channel also shows just how easy a conversion is.

To add: No special servo is required. A 9gr Micro servo is all you need, although I like Savox high speed servos myself. My channel also shows just how easy a conversion is.
