  • MATO Tiger 1 Charging

I decided to charge my MATO Tiger 1 last night but after connecting the charger to the battery, the three green lights blink sequentially vs the solid red light I would have expected per the manual. Any insights on the issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try to charge a stand alone battery of the same type. Have you used this charger on the same tank before?

I have used the same charger on the tank before so the current issue is somewhat surprising. I'll look to acquire a new battery. Thanks for the insight.

Could you post photos of both the charger and the battery so we can see the products in question?

@steve_196442, Is this a good representation of your Mato Tiger 1?

It is the newest all metal infrared version. Because of the torsion bar suspension, the battery is left inside the tank and charged with a wall power brick with some LED indicators.

Affirmative on correct representation for my MATO Tiger 1. Here is a photo of the battery and charger. It seems like a pretty simple set up with few things to go wrong - little options for trouble shooting other than to buy a new battery and/or charger.

If you have more than one or two tank, you may find this thread on Lithium battery interesting.
The NiMH pack is made up of 6 sub-C NiMH cells to make a 7.2 volt supply. The best sub-C NiMH cell can hold 3000 mAh charge. It is not electrically possible to make higher than 3000 mAh NiMH pack with 6 cells connected in series. Some seller overcharge their pack to make higher capacity claim which will shorten the pack life

Yes, there are many different opinion on what is the best for RC tank. I am not a big fan of Lithium Polymer battery due to its lack of internal protection, short usage life and fire hassle. but the LiPo seems to be the only high capacity lithium battery pack commercial available for HL tank, at any price currently.
