Slowly plodding on with this build. New photoetch parts for the mudguards.



Tinning the mudguards so the structure can be given some strength.



First section installed.




All sections installed and bent to replicate the photo for this side.

Slowly been working on this. Left side mudguards installed and bent to replicate the pictures.


Reinforced with 2 x2mm plastic..



Damage to the glasis plate.



Finally, grey etch primer is sprayed on the brass work.



Cables and gun cleaning rod, and their mounting hardware were made.

A fortnight away from home, getting a house ready for sale. Arrived home, and managed to get a couple of hours work on Tiger 996 today. Red primer on over the the etch primer, which has been drying for the last two weeks. Tamiya dark yellow, sprayed on. I then decided to damage the Zimmerit a bit more.


The rear panel was repaired, and the starter mount refitted.


Lastly, damage was done to the track fitting cable, to try to simulate impact damage from being hit.



Al, parts are just dry fitted at the moment, until painting has been completed.

Looking real good. I know you've said this is your last Tiger but any second thoughts about maybe one more as you progress through the build. I went Tiger crazy when I first got into this hobby. 3 of my first 4 tanks were Tiger 1's and then I went off of them. I've had so much fun re-doing the 3 Tigers this winter I'm tempted to buy another Tamiya and do it up as a mid but just go nuts this time with details like your photo etch skirts. When I post up my current finished Tamiya you will see why I've never even contemplated pricey skirts as I constantly smash the kit ones off driving around🤣

Defiantly, my last. I want to do a couple of modern tank. I have plans for another Challenger, and a Leopard. They have been fun to do.

Paint nearly finished on this. Then a wash with brown, followed by a grey wash. Crew has been ordered, complete with tea mug. Custom stencils have also been ordered.

Took it outside, between the showers and managed some outside pictures.

Start with the new markings. Painted and added crew. Of course, one has the obligatory cup of tea. Because we’re British.
