I ended up buying a new tool with a unique jaw to grip on the pin head for the removal of the press fit pins. It is not too bad at ~$20.
The pins are 20mm and 32mm long, the OD is just a hair bigger than the major diameter of a M3 screw. I decided to reuse the pins for the metal return rollers now that I have the removal tool. Do not expect to make roller return upgrade in the near future.
I expect the metal road wheels to add some weight to the chassis and the suspension will compress more. To my surprise, the suspension coil spring is strong enough that there is no obvious change to the tank. But it makes more difference when I mount the Tamiya track. The track is the medium weight hybrid style, quiet a bit lighter than the solid all metal.
