Hello so i am a new beginner getting into rc tanks. I currently have a plastic challenger 2 with plastic gearbox also. I have been playing with the tank at home and a little outside for a few days now. I cant play outside too much for the time being as its kind of cold outside ( around freezing but no snow), will the tank handle fine with the cold? Im looking to upgrade, maybe is it too soon? As i want to take it outdoors more but worried the plastic tracks and gearbox might break. Im looking to upgrade the battery so i can use it longer and maybe a metal sprocket. Any reccomendations or battery i want to use? Im looking for around a 3000mah battery that will fit and does it have to be Li-Po because i dont want to get a smart charger aswell. Thanks!

You will find all the answers to your questions in this thread. Be ready for some diverse opinion on various type of battery.
The NiMH pack is made up of 6 sub-C NiMH cells to make a 7.2 volt supply. The best sub-C NiMH cell can hold 3000 mAh charge. It is not electrically possible to make higher than 3000 mAh NiMH pack with 6 cells connected in series. Some seller overcharge their pack to make higher capacity claim which will shorten the pack life
An easy and fool proof approach is to purchase the Admiral battery pack from MotionRC, but not the cheapest.
