DKLMRC order

I have ordered from DKLMRC.com several times and found them to be reliable. But the latest order for a speaker for the 1/16 RC tank was charged to Paypal, then order closed without delivery or refund. When I login to the DKLMRC.com account, there is no explanation on why the order was closed without refund or notification to me.

The package tracking by Hongkong Post showed that the package arrived in US on 2/21. but no update in the last 7 days.

I want the speaker, not a refund.

I've seen that happening a lot lately were there is no update until it shows up in the Austin, TX distribution center. Shipping has been super slow on a lot of things.

I guess that there is nothing I can do except waiting. It is always slow around the Lunar New Year time.

I hate it when they stop tracking. In previous order, I could track until delivery. It is strange that DKLM call the order closed so early.

I just got a message from Carson at DKLMRC. Very quick response.

We will mark the order as closed once the shipment has proceeded. I just checked, and the parcel has arrived at US Customs and is now waiting.
I guess this may be caused by the sudden suspension of inbound mail from HK to the US during the past 2 weeks; a lot of mail and parcels are jammed at customs.
guess you have to wait a little bit more.

By the way, you just ordered the speaker box without the speaker..

I have a few very high quality small speakers of the right size. If they work well with DKLMRC speaker enclosure, I will order more enclosures. I have a few HL tank that I want to upgrade the sound. I expect DKLMRC 3-D printed enclosure to be more inert than my wood home built enclosures. Yes, I line all speaker enclosure with 3M sound damper liner. Fiber glass has no sound dampening effect. I use long fiber wool when I have to.

I am not surprised that Hongkong sellers got more order before Trump double the import tax we have to pay.

I received the speaker enclosure package today. The shipping speed is reasonable and the package arrived in very good condition. I have the Dayton Audio PC68-4 driver which is beefier than the Visaton FRS7 that DKLM use. It extends the bass another octave lower. I can mount the Dayton driver from outside (not inside) because it is 8mm deeper than the Visaton. I'll find out how it sounds in a few days.

In addition to the bigger magnet and lower cutoff frequency, I chose the Dayton driver for its vented enclosure parameters.

I finished assemble the DKLM enclosure with the Dayton Audio 2.5" drive. It looks large and is heavy at 11.9 oz.

I use M3 machine screws and nuts to mount the driver. Space is very tight. I start having doubt about using the Dayton Audio driver. The speaker magnet is so strong making it difficult to install the nuts. Can I locate the speaker far enough from the MFU to avoid interference?

I will not recommend the Dayton PC68 driver for the DKLM enclosure. The magnet is too big and the speaker depth is too deep for the enclosure. It barely fits inside the DKLM enclosure with very little room to spare. Stick with the Visaton FRS7 that DKLM use. Just to be safe.

I will test this new Dayton/DKLM speaker in the IDF Merkava and the German Leo2a6 to find a location that can avoid RMI with the MFU.

The last package I ordered from abroad, it stayed at whatever customs facility they go to for USPS delivery for 7 days before it moved again.

I'm curious coming from a pro audio background, did he design the enclosure for a specific driver or is it a matter of as you said going through what's available, I don't imagine at that size any ported enclosure is going to be terrible finnicky, I've been looking at sound modules out of TVs on Parts Express, but good ones are pricey and not that small.

I won big with the Dayton Audio PC68-4 driver gamble. There is NO RMI interference and the tank drives smoothly with the HL TK-7.1S. The engine sound for the Leo and Abrams are both excellent, a many times improvement over the HL speakers. The DKLM enclosure is a good physical match for the Leo2a6 chassis with room to spare.

The big magnet of the Dayton driver makes it more efficient than the tiny HL speaker so I have to turn down the volume. No other adjustment is needed. The sound fidelity is more obvious with the Abrams gas turbine engine due to the driver's more extended high end. The extended bass makes the diesel engine sound of the Leo more realistic too.
