The Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D was a German half-track armored personnel carrier used extensively during World War II. It was the final and most simplified version of the Sd.Kfz. 251 series, designed to improve production efficiency and battlefield performance. Introduced in 1943, the Ausf. D featured a more streamlined hull with fewer angled plates, reducing the number of parts and making it easier to manufacture compared to earlier models.

Powered by a Maybach HL 42 6-cylinder gasoline engine, the Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D had a top speed of around 53 km/h (33 mph) and an operational range of approximately 300 km (186 miles). It had a crew of two and could transport up to ten infantry soldiers, providing them with mobility and protection on the battlefield. The vehicle was lightly armored, with 6–14.5 mm thick armor, offering defense against small arms fire and shrapnel.
