Official RotorScale B222 Shadow Black 450 Size Helicopter Discussion Thread

Cool I moved it to 5 minutes, as after 4 it still has almost 4 volts in the tank still.

On my B222 Airwolf and AS-350 Rotorscale 450s, my timer is set for 4 minutes; (but I fly all my electrics down to just storage voltage, ~3.85VV/cell.) This was determined by trial and error.

Yesh at 5 now, however it's been more just hovering around it came down with 3.85, and yeah I tend to do the same thing to set my times to end at storage. I'm sure when I go flying it around with speed that will make a difference in amp usage.

Sweet! I see you got the retracts sussed out. I spent a full day fiddling with mine to get the motion smooth and travels "just right" to achieve no binding. Now I need to resurrect her, (I crashed her pretty hard a few years back - D'oh!)

Mine just crashed. I herd a pop and lost collective control. Went to the helicopter and the main rotor head bolt was sheered off

Can anyone recommend a donor chassis for an of these 450 size bodies? Seems they’re all designed for a TRex 450 which are no longer available.
GAUI X3?
Will any of them fit a OMP M4? Or a RS4?

I found some clone 450 chassis on eBay, other parts to build from scratch.

MotionRC was no help at all - basically said the donor chassis helis are no longer available. Also seems Align is no longer make their helis, they have Phoenix tech which is also sold out, and reported as sub-par.

Looking for suggestions. Willing to go to the next size up to make things work.

It seems that the 450 size B222 uses the Flywing H1 flight controller/satellite receiver. The 470 size Airwolf uses Rotorscale (Roban) 470 size flight controller and GPS sensor, which is the same used in my 470 size MD-500. The 470 size comes as a RTF, so includes the pre-programmed transmitter/receiver. Your 450 came as a PNP and thus required you to provide your own RX and TX. You could get the Flywing flight controller and GPS unit but then, you'd still have to do the programming for the RX and TX.
I'm not so sure you can simply buy the flight controller/GPS from the 470 and put it into your 450. Even if you could, you'd still have to do the programming in the RX and TX. Sorry I can't be of any more help than this.

I did purchase the beastx rx and a futaba 6k-3vs tx. Everything moves as it should and lights on rx for programming are good, heli just wants to flip over. Thats why I thought about gps until I get more familiar with it. Thank you

I believe the problem with a PNP heli is that you have to go back to basic helicopter set up. Unlike a GPS RTF heli, nothing has been done so that you can fly it out of the box. Basic stuff like blade balancing, blade tracking and many other things has to be taken care of before trying to fly it. Then there's basic TX set up. RTF models tend to have much of that stuff done for you. Simply putting in a GPS unit and a flight controller may not resolve any problems that a lack of basic set up can create. You should talk to an experienced heli guy in person for some advice.
