That Tomcatter patch is the original from WWII. Lot of history behind that little patch. :)

I really want to run the flight line p38 the same way. All my planes can be quickly converted from FPV to line of sight as quickly as changing the canopies

Wow great idea I have that plane such a great flyer never thought about using FPV on it. Thanks for sharing do you have any vids on it?

What do you guys think of this for really basic fixed video?

This was filmed at an abandon town. Big thanks to Brandon Parker for the external shots and idea!

I'll echo everyone's youtube comments. Wow! That was a really great video. Well edited with all the camera shots. The "BRRRRRT!" was awesome! And, great music too. Great work!

not sure if I would do this because of limits on situational awareness

Hey guys I did a couple videos on the Mobius and latency tests and how it compares to a real board cam for FPV use. I've posted them all here for you to have a look at. This should help clear some things up.

How to set up the Mobius for FPV

                      Mobius FPV Latency Test

Board Cam Latency test vs Mobius results.

I love this form of flying - scale FPV. Here are links to videos of some of the scale FPV cockpits I have built, in flight. These all started out as standard Dynam and FMS airframes, all of which either still are or have been in the MotionRC range. I just put in scale cockpits and the FPV gear. Dynam Hawker Hurricane, Dynam Albatros DVa, Dynam Tiger Moth, FMS P51b and FMS Fox glider.

FPV maiden of the 1.4m FMS P51b Shangri-La. If you just want to see the flying jump to the 3 minute mark - before that is mainly ogling the cockpit on the gr...

Dusted off the Dynam Hurricane from 2015, upgraded to a Mobius camera over the winter, and put her back on the flight line today. This is a LOS test flight w...

Hello RB and welcome to the Squawk,
Very impressive level of cockpit detailing which gets bumped to the insane level with the FPV and pilot joystick movement:Cool:

RoboBiggles cockpit realism is the pinnacle of RC scale FPV. Tough act to follow.

Still, I love flying HD FPV with headtracking to explore our club field from airborn perspective. Our ground bound club members don’t know what beautiful sights they are missing; the creek for example. It’s becoming harder and harder to stay within our field boundaries....

Ok. It took several batteries of taxiing on the ground, just to get used to “sitting in” the Spitfire cockpit. With the nose pointed high and obstructing forward view, I have to look from side to side and adapt zig zag taxing, just like full scale, to avoid patches of long grass on our runway.

Finally worked up the courage to fly from take off to landing under FPV. Even had a short encounter with my son’s LOS flown PZ Corsair. It’s a exhilarating flight. Very challenging, landing wasn’t pretty but I got it down in one piece. I am hooked to scale FPV. Looking forward to become proficient flying the Spitfire “from the cockpit” this season and hopefully do more formation and dog fight sessions.

Trying to get started with some FPV.

I'm running into an issue of needing a UVC driver for the Andriod tablet or smart phone.
Time to update the tablet anyway. Its an older RCA, very cheap one.

I want to initially just mount the camera and capture on the tablet or phone. Get some video to look at to see what I SHOULD see when flying in LOS and not crossing out of our flight area. Also what a good landing approach should look like.
Maybe re-aim the camera before going to goggles...

Then I want to do my capture on the tablet or phone because they can use higher capacity SD cards.

Goggles and camera work and I can drive my old Tamiya Frog in the yard with them.

Any recommendations for a tablet that WILL work with the little USB 5.8 ghz receivers?

                                          fhhuber,

I don't have an answer for your question. But I suspect your FPV solution may have too much latency to fly from the cockpit in real time. While your FPV solution may work for a ground vehicle moving relatively slow in the yard, a 0.1 or 0.2 second latency means the plane has already traveled several feet before you even see it on screen. Ok for straight and level sight seeing flight. Not ok for maneuvering or landing the plane. So for just recording a flight to get used to seeing the sight picture (very smart move), that's great!. Do you know the glass to glass (from camera to screen) delay of your system?
