I know you're addressing Rifleman but I thought I'd chime in. I have never used hot-melt glue on my RC planes, its not a good solution in my opinion. It is very heavy, dries very quickly, and doesn't adhere nearly as well as other glues - but I know that it is extremely popular (for example with Flite-Test planes) because its cheap and fast. I'd love to see some other opinions. Foam-Tac is much better for foam and doesn't add a lot of weight (since the solvent evaporates).Originally posted by chipset35 View Post
Which A-10 is that?
Seems to have fixed up very well, I do not even see any damage.
You used hot glue?
With these foam planes, even major damage like the one in Rifleman's picture is pretty easy to fix as long as you have all the pieces. Many of the breaks are clean (usually) so the pieces will fit back together well. Start with the small pieces first and start putting each piece back together, one at a time. Check for hidden cracks and make sure they are glued as well. As you get to the larger pieces, be careful to check alignment. When you're done, cracks and parts that are crushed can be fixed with filler (sometimes more than one coat) which is then sanded down to a smooth finish. After repainting these planes can look almost like new again.
For me the hardest thing is when the foam is compressed. Those wrinkles are hard to fix and sometimes the foam is bent soo much to the point where its really hard to get is looking right.... but usually that's when I just get a replacement part.Marc flies FW & FL: AL37, MiG-29, T45,F4, A4, A10, F104 70 and 90, P38, Dauntless SBD, Corsair, B17, B24, B26 & P61, Lipp.P19, ME262, Komets, Vampire, SeaVixen, FMS Tigercat, FOX Glider & Radian XL.

I second that and add that Gorilla(white 1hr stuff) works great for filling voids and securing firewalls that have shaken loose. Use it instead of Foam-Tac whenever you need a solid non-flexible joint.;)Originally posted by TiredIronGRB View PostRight on MD, Foam-Tac is the best for EPO foam. I would like to mention that they have some Gorilla branded products, which are not different from any other company's adhesive products (like regular clear CA for example).Originally posted by OV10 View Post

In other words, understand there is a distinction between their unique polyurethane products, and their other Gorilla-brand adhesives like CA and epoxy.Marc flies FW & FL: AL37, MiG-29, T45,F4, A4, A10, F104 70 and 90, P38, Dauntless SBD, Corsair, B17, B24, B26 & P61, Lipp.P19, ME262, Komets, Vampire, SeaVixen, FMS Tigercat, FOX Glider & Radian XL.

A good crash sets a record.
Such as when I left pieces in 8 trees over 100 yards.
Or the time the plane took a straight dive between 2 trees and got caught between the trunks with only cosmetic damage.FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.
current planes from 1/2 oz to 22 lbs

NO........an epic crash requires an old guy to climb a monster tree like a kid on a sugar high to retrieve the remnants of an A-10 power system. :Scared:LOLOriginally posted by Twowingtj View PostA simple crash just needs a trash bag.
