Perfect day for flying yesterday, 70's winds 4-6, but not a good day for me. Hadn't crashed in over two years but that ended yesterday. Flew my Hanger 9 40 size P51 with Eflite Power 46. Took off fine, turned and it started losing power, immediately tried to land but they don't glide well. Was able to line it up with run way but started coming down fast, pulled up elevator to flare but not enough airspeed. Ripped out the reracts I had just put in but repairable with a lt of work. Don't know what happened flight battery was fully charged and only a few flights on it. Going to download the data from the Castle ESC and see if I can figure it out.
Then I flew my SIG Somethin Extra which has been my go-to plane. Took off, turned downwind, base and lined up with runway but engine quit. Called deadstick and tried to bring it in and was doing all right but when I tried to flare as she approache the ground I pulled too much elevator and it ballooned and stalled at about 5 feet. Came own and ripped the landing gear out and put one of the wheel pants through the wing tearing up the balsa. A lot of repairs on that one too.
I know, it happens, but it sure ruined my day,
Jack :(

Fantastic TI, thanks for sharing. A day of reflection and honoring of our veterans both here and crossed. Words don't do my feelings of respect any justice.
As for on topic, put some more flights in on my Avanti. My F jets are now very jealous. My YouTube RC videos:

Yesterday was warbird day (with one exception). Flew the following:
FLRC P-38
FLRC Tigercat
FMS 1700mm P-51
Sonic (HK) 1875mm B-17
FMS 1400mm P-40
FW A-6
Flew the A-6 for the first time yesterday with a Turnigy Graphene 4000. The increase in power over my other 4000 packs was very noticeable!
And today was jet day.
FW F-14
FW F-15
FW F-104 90mm
FW Yak-130 90mm
FW Me-262 (new version)
FW F-104 90mm
The Me-262, Yak-130, and F-104 were maiden flights. Happy to say everything came home in one piece on both days!1 PhotoPat

Just a quick little story from my club today. We had a family turn up with their terminally ill dad, who only has a few weeks to live. He just wanted to see some planes fly. So everyone at the field today stopped what they were doing, and we put on a little airshow just for this family. He can't stand so we set him up on a chair next to the flightline, and I commentated the flights for him and his family, whilst my clubmates flew everything from cubs to jets, just for them. Funnily enough, he loved the cubs best lol. Anyway, was nice to make a small difference for this family, and they loved it. His son sent me a thank you email and said his dad still hasn't got the smile off his face. Was awesome to see all my clubmates step up and help out, and basically give the field over to this family for a hour. Just another reason I love this hobby so much. :)
