I remember reading that the Mercury project astronauts were issued F-102s for proficiency work while they trained to fly rockets into space. They didn't care for that much, though, as it was considered very much a "dog" but then transferred over to flying the F-106s, which they liked Much better! Eventually, the T-38 became the plane of choice for the astronauts to fly and attend meetings all over the country as we worked towards landing on the moon someday. The T-38 is still in service today for our astronauts.

I agree that a few need a refresh, F-14, 15 and 16 especially.

Appearances can be quite deceiving.Originally posted by kallend View Post
I think the Harrier looks better than either of those. The vertical stabs on the F-22 look like they were stuck on as an afterthought.
Without going into details, you can be sure that the size of the vertical tails on the F-22 (and the YF-22) are the size and shape needed as a result of extensive testing.

I would too. I just wish the F-22 was VTOL since it is a way better looking jet than the F-35.

Prices keep rising. 90’s are now $650. I’d say a nice “90” or F-22 sized VTOL would be $900 or so. I’d pay it.

Agreed! As we see here it can be done. Now price point on the other hand??Originally posted by Elbee View Posthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhH20sDgQEU
Hey All,
This guy has been designing, 3DP printing, and building VTOl Harriers and F-35s.
His build series is quite entertaining at least to me and the tech is worth the watch.
I, too, would like to see FreeWing do a full blown F-35.
I would think the cost would be up there, but what a great project.

Future Products? Hmmm
Still would like a 1600mm+ P-51 B with the Malcolm Hood represented.
Could be offered like the Corsair, maybe, with a "D" version both in Super Scale.
Probably would be pricey, but there ya go.
Also, a 2000mm Lockheed Constellation would be cool.
Still think it's as beautiful an airframe as the Spitfire, just for different reasons.
