Few fighter aircraft command attention like the F-22 Raptor. As the world’s first operational fifth-generation stealth fighter, the Raptor combines extreme agility, advanced avionics, and breathtaking performance to dominate the skies. Its unmistakable twin-tail silhouette and stealth-inspired airframe have made it one of the most recognizable and capable fighter aircraft ever built.

The Freewing 90mm F-22 Raptor V2 captures the unmistakable presence of this legendary aircraft in a large, high-performance EDF model that blends impressive scale realism with exhilarating flight performance. Crisp panel lines, detailed landing gear, and the distinctive stealth contours of the Raptor give the model a commanding presence both on the ground and in the air.

The updated V2 F-22 introduces several key refinements designed to enhance scale realism, durability, and field convenience. The model now features screwless quick-release main wings for fast assembly and easy transport, along with a comprehensive lighting system including formation lights on the vertical stabilizers, fuselage, and wings, LED lighting integrated into the main wings, and nose gear taxi lights for improved ground realism. Updated scale wheel hubs and a revised main landing gear structure enhance the aircraft’s scale appearance, while structural improvements such as increased vertical fin strength and upgraded machine-thread tail mounting hardware improve durability.

Whether carving fast passes across the sky or climbing vertically in full afterburner-style acceleration, the Freewing F-22 Raptor 90mm EDF delivers the commanding presence and thrilling flight experience worthy of its full-scale counterpart.

You had me with the quick attach wings. I hate messing with screws. I've lost so many in the grass.

I haven't taken the wings off any of the four 90's I've had/ have once built or the 80, or 70... But I have a Nissan NV200 with a huge shelf in it. :)

Consider this (and I'm not promoting this plane for anybody since I already have the V1, 8S).

We read on these forums all the time, the kinds of effort and expense some people go to to do some of the "small" improvements to this plane. People stiffen this and reinforce that. They put in tubing to change the strut shock strength. They 3D print more "scale" looking wheels. Some have even added lights where there were none. These are but a couple things that I've seen and remember seeing. I'm sure there are many more. As I said before, I would go for this just for those quick attach wings. Now, we all know that the V1 has not been available for some time in most markets. So, call it a V1 with "such and such" if that floats your boat. And never mind the X-Fly shills that tend to come out of the woodwork when something like this shows up. It doesn't matter. I'm sure that many people have wanted to buy a 90mm but simply couldn't because there weren't any. Now, it's back. Call it whatever you want. But here's an interesting fact and I'm using CAD$$ as reference. For a mere $14.00CAN more, I can now buy the 6S F-22 (V2) with all the stuff that many people have done to their original F-22 to make it better or wish they could do and I'll betcha that it cost them MUCH more than 14 bucks to do it. Rather than looking at this as a phoney V2, I look at it as being it's "back in stock", with a few extras. So, flame away. It'll be "out of stock" again soon enough.

In the video it seems to fly great on 6S, Will it be more efficient on a 8S setup?

I have two 90's both with TV, both flying with very very good light HV batteries. I prefer the 6S.

Remember the old 90mm F/A-18E with TV. It and the Euro both had a V1 and V2. Officially from FW>

Many said it had up to (I heard) 8 versions calling out different fans, ESCs, a retract upgrade, etc.

It got confusing between what people callled the versions and what FW officially said.

Indeed, I do. I went through 3 of them. One was the Australian Air Force theme (my fave) that Alpha helped me get from Freewing. I never paid much attention to what "version" they may have been. I was just learning how to fly jets back then and I could never land them well. Broke the main gear on all of them (multiple times), but then, the gear on that plane was mounted in a very odd way, into very weak, brittle foam. I still have a few salvaged parts from those. They'll make their way to the dump one day.
This is somewhat similar to my FMS P-51's. I think my last one was Version 8.

I agree. Mine would be "perfect" except for a lot of flights from grass, so quite a bit of debris rash. Also, the first time I powered it up, the ESC caught fire but unplugging it quickly confined the charring to a small interior area. After replacing the ESC, it has flown very well. So this is another incentive for me to get a new V2 ARF Plus. A flying buddy is already lined up to buy my V1 as an ARF Plus.

Been waiting so long since I lost my 90mm F-22 V1 due to a blue box malfunction. Loved that jet even without Vector thrust. So now my little F-22 70mm will have a big brother. It's on the way, due to arrive Thursday. Already have a dual afterburner LED from Motion in the bin. Might as well put it to use. It was used in my 70mm F-22 until I swapped it out for a KMRC.

Right. My bad. None of my old 18's were perfect for long. My current one is though.

Mine is on the way! I'm excited!

                                - Is this the ground-up redesign we hoped for? No.
                                - Is this a scaled-up version of the tricked-out 80mm from last year? No.
                                - Is it still a worthy upgrade for V1 lovers who are ready for a new airframe? Yes--and that's exactly my case.

The lights are great--things I did to my V1 anyway. The new gear look to be reinforced over the previous version... although I'll still add a 3D printed nose gear brace (lesson learned from V1).

Things I wish it had (that the 80 got):
                                - Main gear doors (full coverage)
                                - More plastic reinforcement--intake lips, canopy edges, sharp upper fuselage edges
                                - More "correct" gear stance (including smaller nose wheel--the tractor tires look ridiculous)
                                - More "correct" shape--radome, intakes, canopy shape/placement

Things I wish it had (that the 80 didn't get):
                                - More correct color scheme... in fairness, the F-22 is very hard to replicate, but the shades of gray are too light overall
                                - More correct canopy color... the V1 90mm was actually better than the V2. Maybe the clear canopy is intended for FPV... I'll be painting mine gold
                                - Thrust vectoring... this could be an optional purchase like the MiG-29 and JAS-39
                                - Rubber tires

They knocked it out of the park with the 80mm from last year... but it's small, and the relocated battery bay is size-constricted (especially compared to the 90. This is a worthy upgrade for my ready-to-die V1 airframe, and we'll lovingly refer to it as V1.5.

During assembly anyone notice the manual reversed the push rod lengths for the ailerons and flaps? Otherwise assembly went smoothly. Mine is together but I will hopefully install an afterburner tomorrow.
                                      EDIT: Installed KMRC.

I painted inside of exhaust white after realizing Grey paint inside.
did some mods: KMRC AFTERBURNER, detachable drop tanks (from F-16 V2) and white collision lights on wings. Probably too windy tomorrow for maiden but hope to get some pre-sunrise video as I taxi to trim steering.
