If you have been flying any low wing aircraft or warbirds at all, the transistion to the A-10 EDF won't be that drastic.
One important point to remember it that EDF's do not ramp up in speed as responsively or as quickly as props.

Many times it's possible to bail out of a tricky situation or missed approach on a prop by goosing the throttle and re-grouping.
EDF's take a bit more time to react so plan accordingly, especially in the beginning, and allow yourself plenty of familurization altitude.

I absolutely adore flying my A-10 and you will too I'm sure.
If your transmitter is capable of dual rate and expo settings, you might want to experiment with those until you get a feel for the responsiveness of the Thunderbolt.

Oh yeah, I hope you like flying with everyone watching. The A-10 is a real eye magnet!!!

Thanks for the info! I was thinking about purchasing the Stinger 64 to practice on,throw some gear on it.
Have you done any mods to your A-10? I've seen people commenting on replacing the elevator servo? My thoughts were its just foam?
I purchased the 4s 4000's from MRC and looks like it will need a longer Velcro Strap, other then that plane looks awesome. I was planning on attempting to take her out this weekend, weather forecast is for rain :(

Anyone install flaps on their planes yet?  I installed them and cannot get them to line up properly,  servo splines, one or the other is off by a slim but noticeable margin.  I am Running a 6C receiver,  my only thoughts were to go to an 8C receiver and run a Y connector to dial in the flaps independently not sure if thats even possible on the DX8?  Oh yeah i am running a reg and reverse servo as well.

Flew the A-10 this morning for the first time in several months and she quickly reminded me why this is my favorite plane ever, by far, prop, edf, or anything else. Hoping my new Freewing F-18 V2 and F-16 will run a close second. Love this little plane. Admiral 4s 3600mah gets me up to 4 min on mixed throttle.

Well, it's 6-7 months now since i've been flying the Freewing A-10.

I have to say that it has been a blast!! From the maiden until now it has been and continues to been one of my all time favorites.
And the scale appearance on the ground and in the air???? Forget about it!!!! A thing of beauty!!

Time to wake this thread up! The Freewing 64mm A-10 is a fantastic flyer, I absolutely love it. I need to film Tony and Bob's A-10s and get some flight video going, they both fly their A-10s in a different style and the aircraft can handle both with ease. The bird flies ~90mph stock with the Admiral 4s 4000mAh 40c pushed all the way forward.

Here's mine, with a bit of weathering. To achieve realistic depth, I used ten different shades of grays and browns, all hand brushed in a very diluted wash, then a few layers of dry chalk to work in a sun-faded gradient, especially on the upper surfaces. The pictures show like there are only a couple of shaded colors, but in real life up close you can see all the tiny colors shifting in the light. Less is more. Goes to show that you don't need an airbrush to convincingly weather an aircraft. I used online reference photos of A-10s currently fighting ISIS, and they're much more dirty than normal, even for an A-10.

Chrome tape on the strut, white washed wheels/struts/rims, repainted ordnance (not done yet detailing the Mavericks and the pylons), new pilot figure same as Xplaneguy's pilot figure, green clear plastic for the HUD, and then about two hours with the aforementioned washes.

For those of you out there with A-10s, post your pictures! What do you like about the model? What do you not like? I don't like how the battery strap is too short to use and must be replaced with a longer strap or velcro. But other than that, I love everything else about the A-10. Looks menacing just sitting there!

I love the stock 4S performance, scale look and overall reliability of this jet.

Recommended upgrades: More robust nose gear retract and stronger spring for gear door, actuating struts, landing/nav lights, scale pilot, detachable weapons, multiple water slide decal options, FLIR with plastic lens, painted APU exhaust, smaller/scale antennas, a little more room for receiver and battery, better fitting EDF access hatches and finally better/more robust fans....one fan exploded during a takeoff.
