Does anyone know of a build or unboxing video of this kit? How about a PDF of the instructions. Thanks for the help.

            Hey Lon,

Recently got Freewing P-51 from MRC was wondering if you have ever used a Gyro in it. I have considered it but not decided yet. Not sure if there is room to mount it near the GC. Any suggestion appreciated.

I have never used a Gyro in my Freewing P-51...thought about it....BUT, here's why I haven't.  I first put AR635 in my 1100mm Mustangs, and yes, it made such a nice difference in landings AND takeoff's. (a much more relaxing experience, specially windy days) But on these same windy days of flying the 1100's, I would fly the IronAss, and really not have any scary experiences landing. And of course you will find with the IronAss on those windy days, she handles the wind very well in the air (7-15mph). Soooooo, I've talked myself out of putting a gyro in the IronAss. As I think you may know, this is my first year flying, and the guys at the field comment to me, that I've really picked-up on flying quickly.  So, with the way the plane handles, and my confidence in my handling of the IronAss..."Heck, I don't need a Gyro in this plane" And that's all I have to say about that.

              Wingman,

A few more thoughts on my previous reply...yes, where would I mount the Gyro??? That thought has been a factor also, in deciding to put a Gyro in the plane.  sigh.......decisions, decisions.

So good hearing from you Bryan. I live close to the coast just outside of New Bern, NC. Former Navy Fighter Pilot and come next week minus a right foot. Not going to stop me though. Navy tough. My new Freewing P-51 flys like a dream. I feel that I am in it. It lands on our grass strip so nice. Have yet to tip it. Everything about it works perfect. I am looking at Tower hobbies as they have the DHC-2 Beaver on sale and I have heard and see great things about it. Just have to remember it will be a few months before I can go back to the field but it will give me something to look forward to. Come on over to New Bern and we can do some flying. BTW. my call sign in the Navy is Murf the Surf. I am on facebook by that also.

Plane is so easy to fly I would not consider a gyro. I want to fly the plane not just go round and round. If you are afraid of the plane step back and fly a Piper J3 or something like that. A mustang must be put to the air and flown. Have fun.

Hey Va56 really hate to hear that about your foot , my heart hurts for you . Thank you for your service to our country ! Makes me feel luck to have met you .
As far as the Beaver everything I have ever read on it is only positive . Tower may have on sale but the shipping cost brings it back probably close to same cost . MRC carries that plane and you'll get free shipping and much better service .  It's listed under Flyzone brand or water planes you can find it either way . Compare the prices and you'll see they are the same .
I don't know what transmitter your using but that plane comes with a Tactic receiver in it . I use Tactic and I'm very happy with it . You can pull out the receiver and put your own no problem if you have different equipment . There quite a few reviews and demos on YouTube on that plane .
Keep us up on your decision and good luck .

This is my 3rd Mustang, 1st Foam. I'm not afraid to fly it I love it. Just never used a Gyro before and I like to try new things. I flew gas for 15 years. Started flying again for my grandkids. I plan to teach them to fly RC and hope at least one gets pilots license so when I get old they can fly me around instead of me flying them. Thanks

                      Flyzone DHC-2 Beaver 1510mm (59.5") Wingspan - TXR

Tried to order the DHC-2 Beaver from MRC but the coupon, free 2 day shipping and a bonus $10.00 coupon to use on next purchase was hard to beat. I got the receiver ready. Going to put my own in it. I have Flysky everything and I plan on getting the new 9 channel they have. Waiting on a Christmas deal. The six is great. I will not have time to assemble this new bird before my surgery but it will give me something to look forward to when I can get out to the field again. Got to learn to fly standing on one foot. I believe this DHC-2 beaver is going to add a lot of joy to flying. My Freewing P51 is so awsome. I do not know of anything that would replace it. I guess while I am laid up I can catch up on reading and as I start to move about I can do some extra detail work, upgrades etc. This is a great group of pilots and I am glad to know you. I will stay in touch. Oh yeah I have heard of a clear coat you can put on these foamy's. to protect and make them shine. Any ideas out there?

I think it's in the Tips n tricks section . Want to say most of what is used in the Minwax water based . It's good on foam and doesn't damage them

Just bought myself the Freewing P-51 as a Christmas present. I've been good and won't open the box till then...
It's killing me!  Anyway, my thoughts on the gyro. I have gyros in most of my planes and here's why. First of all they are cheap. Not like buying a receiver. Second, even though I may never use it, I have the piece of mind that if something comes up I have the option of switching it on if I want to. I may never switch it on but at least I could if I needed it. Maybe I really wanted to go flying on a very windy day that I might otherwise not, then I could with confidence that the gyro would help.
I just like that feeling that I won't wreck my $300 plane for the cost of a $25 gyro. I good investment. I'm not to proud to admit that my planes have them.
Good luck with your P-51, can't wait to open the box on Christmas!

                              Hi Va56

Thank you for your service to our great country!

I have the beaver, but can't tell you much about it. My wife thought it would "fun" to put it under the tree as a present.
She may think its fun, but I think its borderline abuse lol

Again, thanks for your service and hoping for a speedy recovery with your foot.

                              Jeff

I agree with you about the gyro. Motion RC has one of the best. I have never used one but you got me thinking as I just upgraded from a 6 channel transmitter to a 9. I am in the hospital recovering from a foot amputation. Hope to get home Monday. Our weather does not look good for flying for the next several days and I will be laid up for a while. Let me know what kind you get and how it works. I have flown my P-51 several times with the rates lowered. It is a much more happy plane and I can program the settings and save them on the new transmitter, Look foreword to hear how this works.
