Thank you. Just one of my many RC hobby interests.Originally posted by SanExup View PostNice submarines!
My Dauntless is completely ready for a maiden. It CG'd perfectly with two Admiral 4S 6000 Pros. Granted, I also have a 4" speaker in the nose, a 3D printed dummy radial engine and an 18 x 12 three blade prop on it. Came in at 17.6 lbs AUW. The edge trim that is provided in the kit and intended to be opened up and glued flat to the seams between the center wing section and outer sections was a wasted effort. At least I could not figure it out so I will resort to an alternate method.

I have already attached those doors and painted them green on the interior and put the film on the outside etc... and you are right - they are going to come off on the first landing --- super cool on the exhaust - 3d printing is way over my pay grade - would send photos of mine but yours is way better - thanks

I did shorten the gear doors because as they have you mount them the wheels would contact them under full compression of the struts. For now they will do. I may change them later to be more proper. Longer and hinged to the wing. As for the exhausts I designed and 3D printed them with a flange to glue to the inside of the cowl. Simple. Nothing fancy. The flaps/dive brakes really stand out with all those holes and red interiors.Originally posted by Comer View PostLooks like you shortened the gear doors! Is that more scale? What did you use for the exhausts through the cowl? Thanks

I am almost done with my Dauntless. A few more details to paint, some servo extensions and check the CG. After that it will be a matter of programming the radio. Later I will add a Shockwave 3 sound system. It is a big bird! The wing fit perfectly. Aside from a few minor things that I had to "re-engineer", it went together well. No complaints.

When operating the air brakes and or flaps does the control surface on the center wing section operate with the flaps or the air brakes ? Thanks guys!

Yes indeed, I had been eyeing that one as well, but there's something about that navy blue scheme I just love.

It does surprise me too that MRC isn't carrying the 1540mm(60inch) Navy version.

Yeah, I would purchase the smaller version in the navy scheme in a heartbeat.

First of all , welcome to HobbySquawk. You are correct. I modified the prop shaft that came with the GB26 motor by simply cutting the shaft off leaving about 1/8" of it. The diameter of the GB26 shaft fits perfectly in the back of the 1600mm Corsair prop adapter thus centering it. Then it is just a matter of drilling and tapping 4 holes to secure the Corsair prop shaft with M3 x 10 socket head cap screws. The parts I used were FLW3040910, P418120 and MO1505521. I weighed each blade and made them all weigh the same then balanced the prop. My aluminum standoffs ended up being 55mm long but that is with the extra 10mm thick base of the Corsair prop adapter.Originally posted by Comer View PostRCjetdude,
Great plane and great video. I am a novice but I am currently building this model for my brother who has ALS so it's a challenge on several fronts. I have had a couple of questions and MotionRC has been very helpful and suggested that I join this group. For this post I just have a question for RCjetdude regarding your build. I have attached a photo of your prop shaft adaptor. I believe that you made the change from the stock shaft that comes with the Admiral GB26 so that you could use the 3 blade prop from the Corsair. Do you mind sharing the part numbers for this modification including the hub and three bladed prop? Thanks in advance.

I also found that Apple Barrel 20773E English Navy acrylic paint from Walmart is a darn near perfect match for the dark blue.

I am liking this offering from Motion. However, due to its size, I will have to wait until I relocate to a bigger house in a couple of years! I hope they will be available then. The SBD is such a historical plane. I have the Freewing version and really like it. Thanks for bringing this plane to us, Motion!
