    Found that E-Flite 100amp ESC & got it installed into the Corsair. I checked both props with the new ESC & here's what transpired. This was all checked static on the ground. I ran the throttle up multiple times both gently and instant from a stop to full throttle.

    Stock FMS 4 Blade Prop E-Flite 100amp ESC - 102amps / 2245 Watts
    FlightLine 3 Blade Prop E-Flite 100amp ESC - 92amps / 1945 Watts


    Based on this I think something may have been wonky with the stock ESC. If I get the chance tomorrow I'll go fly it and report back.

    Ok so got some time to go fly today and I was in a hurry to get out to the field and test the corsair with the FlightLine 3 blade prop. I didn't get pictures because i wanted to get out and fly before it got dark. I can say that using the flightline 3 blade corsair prop made a noticeable difference in speed & climbing ability. The FMS V3 corsair really benefited using the flightline prop! It flew a lot more like i would of expected it to.

    Strangely though using the 3 blade prop gave higher amp draw and was putting the stock 80amp predator ESC really at it's limits. Max amp draw during the test flight with the flightline prop was 96amps. The ESC heated up quite a bit as well.

    I think FMS maybe screwed up the pitch on the V3 prop or something. The FMS prop is also wider than the FlightLine.

    I think I have an E-Flite 100amp ESC laying around somewhere. If I can find it i'm going to put that in and retest the FlightLine prop and see if there is any difference. I'm also contemplating ordering another FlightLine 3 blade prop and putting 4 of the blade is the stock FMS prop hub and see how it does.

    Good info. It at least gives me an idea of what to expect and look for. Appreciate it!

    It's been a while since I've done it. I've been flying the FL Corsair for a couple of years now. I do seem to remember I had to build up the thickness of the FL hex to make it work, so you might have to make the hole bigger in the FL prop holder. Also, the FMS prop holder is a bit thicker (front to back), so I had to thin it out on a sander. Going the other way, there should be plenty of thread on the shaft to hold it on. Memory being as bad as it is, you may find out what I said is the opposite. In any case, they are not quite the same.

    Is the hex on the shaft to big or two small to fit the FL-3 Blade? I do have another shaft with a slightly smaller hex on it. I guess if that one doesn't work i'll modify the prop holder from Flight-Line to fit one of the shafts i have.

    The prop adapter/holder for the FL 3-blade has a different sized hex hole than what's on the FMS motor shaft. You'll have to do some modifying to make it fit. I fitted the FMS 4-blade prop assembly onto my FL Corsair. It's not a direct fit.

    I was going to try a RimFire 1.20 450kv in this and report back with numbers. My brand new motor i took out of the box had some issues. Horizon contacted me today they are swapping it out for me, but it's out of stock. So wont get the replacement until mid - late december. Soon as it comes in i'll provide static on the ground amp & watt #'s.

    In the meantime I ordered the 3 blade 18x12 corsair prop from Motion RC. I'll see how that does and report back. I'm really curious to see if that makes any difference. I'm really starting to wonder if FMS didn't mess up the pitch on the V3 prop some how.

    This is my 3rd V2, so you know how I feel about it. I also have the Flightline one. I just don't have room for 3 at once. I've learned a lot of good stuff from these threads and I especially learned a bucket load from RCInformer's videos.

    Personally, I'm not going to buy the V3 when I've got a fairly good V2 that I can mod. I can live without the "zippity do dah" hatch release. The rest, I can reproduce on the V2.
    I love the Corsair and had to have one which I didn't previously own. I'll mod this one to get it up to where it should be.

    I was just hoping to get some informative stuff from here.

    When RCInformer tests a product, he is doing so on behalf of the company. In this case, it's FMS and Horizon Hobby. He generally won't trash a plane because that won't make the company very happy.     Sure, but your stats aren't correct either.

    It's not worth arguing about. Bottom line is the new v3 Corsair is under powered and anyone that owns one seems to agree on that.

    Agreed. At this size 80+ is definitely reasonable and warranted. Anything slower and, meh. I think FMS dropped the ball on this release. They could have and should have wowed this release with a stock power setup the model and size deserves instead of customers having to spend hundreds more just to find an adequate power increase.

    Had this one bone stock been capable of 80+ one would already be sitting in my garage.

    Hmmmm, that's pretty sluggish for this plane. My V2 with the 360 motor seems to go much faster than that. It's been discussed before that you can't scale down speed for a model airplane because you can't scale down air. Nevertheless, I want my Corsair to get into the 80+ mph. A 50 mph Corsair of this size just won't do. It just doesn't look right when I fly my other prop jobs right after flying the Corsair.

    35-40?!? That would be a HUGE decrease in power over the V1/V2. Bone stock I could still see around 50-60mph or so. I would have been happy with 70-80mph. 35-40 is nearly unflyable, yikes.

    And about 300mph at sea level.

    Planes do their top speed at altitude because air is thinner less drag.. they fly a lot slower at the altitudes we fly them at!

    What kind of thrust to weight ratio do you imagine the corsair had in 1942?

    Has anyone else gotten their hands on the V3 corsair yet? I'm curious if anyone besides RCINFORMER & myself are trying different power systems and setups to find that sweet power ratio that the corsair deserves....
