If you're wondering, I'm using Lil Margaret as a reference for originality. She was the 1993 Grand Champion winner in the World War II category at Oshkosh. She is completely stock except for the necessities demanded by the FAA. Heck her solenoids that would trigger her guns even work!

    Thanks Jeff!!

I would love to have a Mustang, but me still being a student pilot I don't think I'm ready for such a awesome war bird.

I have a Pandora, Apprentice and Hawksky V2. I'm thinking that converting my Pandora to a low wing will help with low wing fling first. Whatcha think?

                    Pauly,
When i was at the stage of experience, and wanted a Mustang(FW P-51), like you. I was given the advice to start flying my Pandora in the low wing configuration, and when i can do at least 20 consecutive smooth landings in a row. I should be ready for the Mustang. Trust me, trying to get 20 consecutive in a row will be a challenge. But when you get there, your confidence and skill will have made great strides.

Note: No cheating...bouncy landing, start counting over :)

Thanks Lon. I'll remember that. I think the Mustang is one of greatest warbirds there is. I would love to have one with sound just because its different and I think its cool.

I second that! The Pandoras are afraid not to do what I tell them now....
So, Lon, you are coming out to Muncie aren't you??
Sure hope to see you and a lot of the guys there for NEFI June 10, 11 and 12.
Me and the Missus will be there late afternoon Friday, but bright and early on Sat and Sun.
Let me know, I'm looking forward to meeting up!!
Got a little more work done to the P51 tonight. Upper flap and aileron surfaces are covered now and did some riveting on the port side wing and fuse. Got a lot of decal work done, so she's just about ready for Varathane on the top sides of the wings.
Man this thing looks sharp guys. Now if I could only get my hands on a landing gear sequencer, she'd be ready quite quickly, that's really all I'm missing right now but there are none in stock.
I'd hate to have to pull the one out of Old Crow, but I really want to bring her to NEFI....
                        We'll see what happens.....

I CAN'T believe she's done. Except for a couple of paint touch ups and one decal on the lower wing. Everything is working, just have to check the CG and I'm home free.
The Flite Metal is a lot of work but really something once your on the other side of the job.

Thanks Farm!! If your wondering how much of a difference, the wings are stock silver, so do the comparison.
I thought about doing them, but the out-of-the-factory Mustang's wings were painted so I decided to stick to the original, at least for now.
I noticed that "That's My Gal I" was still tail heavy, so I'm going to balance her a little further forward, also compare the CG with the 3600's vs the 4000's.
I'll admit that I'm nervous to take her up, which is unusual for me, but with all the work, I'm going to con Ryan into maidening her at NEFI. I mean the bottom line is its a chunk of foam, but still.....
