I went without sound. I had the version with sound when it first came out (before the proper Merlin sound was installed) and while I liked the model's looks and quality, the sound was too toyish for me (I was spoiled with a 1700mm P-51D with Benedini sound) and was too heavy due to the sound system. I think I will enjoy this version better as it will be lighter and probably faster...

I hear you, I'm still debating on whether I'll leave the paint stock or get fancy. I was thinking about using Ultracote, has anyone tried that on foam?

gettin mine ready and I have 2 questions ,perhaps someone might know.
                      1. arent the landing lights suppose to go off when the gears up? mine stay on.
                      2. when my gear is up,the main doors have over a 1/4" gap at the leading edge..I may be able to adjust the servo arm to help pull it in further, but I dont think its going to be enough to pull the front of the doors up (closed tight) anyone have a fix for this?

Yes, landing lights should go off. Double check that you have the landing lights leads plugged in the right place.
Adjust the clevises on the doors to get them to close tight. If the doors are then tight, but servo wants to buzz on you, back the clevis off a half turn.

ps: remove the prop before making adjustments.

Also, with the clam shell doors, I found that if I couldn't adjust the clevis enough, I popped the control horn off the servo and advanced it one tooth upwards.

If you ever rip the front end off of one simply glue it back on. Ask me how I know!

Went together great. Have a bent motor shaft I'll need to replace and I had some finger nail marks and other small imperfections here and there. No biggie (especially at that price) so I will spackle, sand, prime and I'll repaint her once I decide which livery. (Callie are your ears burning?)...

Mine arrived yesterday and all looked great. I even checked the battery hatch since some were saying theirs was glued down, but mine was in good shape. I am impressed with how nice it looks, and am anxious to start the build and then fly her! Thanks MRC for such great service.

I found that the hatch removal strip doesn't last, so I saw a tip to run a piece of carbon fiber through the aft end, from side to side, leaving just enough to get a grip on , doesn't take much and looks better than a piece of tape.

Still waiting to hear if anyone has tried ultracote over a foamy. How about it guys?
I have tried laying the chrome duct tape over the old set of wings to see how that would work and it seems to stick extremely well
