  • Wow. That's really good to know. I bought one the day after you announced that iron Ass was being discontinued. It's still in the box. Work , injury and life in general has kept me from getting to it but I am looking forward to that day. My FMS P-40 is in the same situation. Just waiting on me. Glad little gal is fine Dan. Throw her up soon. Good luck.

PC decided to crash today too, working from Dianes

      • Dang Dan. You mean the new spitfire you just picked up. Total loss or is there some hope for it. Man I hope you at least got a full flight in before it went down. Hey man better call the Pope and see if you can get him to come by and bless the rest of the fleet. Wow I'm sorry Dan. I hope you get that monkey off your back soon.

        • Yeah, you got that right!! I just ordered another one, I did get a couple of flights with her and it is a great airplane, but even the great ones won't survive a sudden loss in power. I'll try one more just because, I really believe in this bird, she flew great!!
Now, at least I have spare parts. She was a total write off, fuse busted and crumpled, same with the wing. Managed to save the battery hatch and the horizontal stab. Fuse was actually good from the cockpit back.
I almost went for the FlightLine model, but damn, I liked this bird!! It fit right into my perceived progression, more so than the FlightLine.

My luck is about to change. I refuse to let this monkey stay on me. I destroyed/tore up more planes at NEFI then I have in the last two years combined, and that is not even counting the hellcat! Looks like I fly out to San Jose for a ten day relief job on Tuesday, so I will get a hot, sticky, no wind Sunday to fly at the club! I will probably get out the new red tail 1700mm and fly it. I will be sure to get some video.

                        • Sounds good me, I did the same, had Big Beautiful Doll at the field as well, packed up the pieces and turned right around and flew BBD for a couple of batteries. That plane never lets me down.

                          • 6/38 4/86. Charging now for more flights. No issues. 8 - 10 mh winds down the runway. Nothing compared to NEFI conditions.

                                • It was the perfect day to go, we're only 50 miles away so its a pleasant drive. Saw a lot of Buffalo, a beautiful bull elk with a huge set of antlers in velvet. Got some great pics of a family of buffalo that stepped out onto the road and sort of took over as there was probably thirty of them. Lots of yearlings and newborns and the old man bringing up the rear. All you can do is sit and let them pass, don't try to touch them and DON'T piss them off!!

                                  • Ditto on don't piss em off. I work at a Texas State Park we are the home of the Texas State Bison Herd we work around them daily. I can never understand what posses idiots to try to pet a 2000 pound wild animal. You might get lucky once but that next time definitely isn't worth it. People have no idea the kind of power these animals have until you see it on display.

                                    • Yeah, did you hear about the guy who saw a baby on the side of the road? He thought it was in trouble so he loaded it up in his motorhome and took it to the rangers station! They tried to take it back to the herd but, it stunk of human and the herd wouldn't accept it so the put it down, happened about a month ago, incredible!

                                      • People just don't understand Nature can take care of itself. No matter what we think or do nature will handle it. It might take some time and species may come and go but in the end Nature wil triumph over all. In the case of that calf something else was wrong with it or mother and the herd would have taken it in. It had probably been abandoned already. That's why it was alone and they were able to pick it up. If you try to take a calf from the herd you usually have to deal with several cows trying to protect it that's how they have survived for thousands of years.

I don't recall anyone mentioning this other than myself. I haven't got her up in the air yet, any thoughts on how much it addes to the plane?
