30 inches tall sounds about right. I have the Nexa Fokker D7, about the same wingspan (68 in, 70 in including ailerons) and it's 21 inches tall. The Nexa Fokker D7 flies great, it's a pretty easy flier, the assembly is a PITA. Poor fits and bad instructions make this a challenging ARF to get right, but it does fly great. I have seen videos on youtube of the Nexa DR1, and it appears to fly very well for what it is, but I would expect it to have the same assembly/build issues. I do not take the D7 apart to transport, and I would not recommend purchasing this plane if you have to. There is a forum on here regarding the D7, might be useful: Official Nexa 1730mm Fokker D.VII ARF Thread.

You are not going to be able to "pull the trigger" as the DR1 is not in stock, you should probably consider using the notify me when it's in stock option. Last time, they were all gone in 2 days.

The picture in question is a 63 inch Dancing Wings Pt17, easiest flying biplane I have.

      Thanks Marty,
I placed the order on Friday? and I guess I am on a wait list as to availability, do you have any idea how many came in last time? If you read my notes and look at my videos on here its not a pattern plane for sure but the Zirolli one that I scratched built from plans was a much lighter construction(not quite stick and tissue but close). This should be definetly heavier and hopefully more damage resistant. Also with the newer light weight sound devices looking forward to shooting the Spandeaus and real engine sounds. Sorry I never grew up and love WWI airplanes.

When the camo version came in, couple months back, there were 9 and they sold out in less than 12 hours. I watched them go until it was around 5 remaining, then made the purchase.

I ground ran mine today, 6250 RPM on the 10 cell system, well under the prop RPM limit of 8500. It has more than enough power, I am sure it would hover, like a 3D airplane. Not my intention, but I loath an underpowered model.

          those are 7inch Dubro wheels.

Its a pain in the A%%$&& to remove the wing jig after setting the top wing .

I found it was basically unusable. Once the wing position was set the jig will not come out without damaging the model itself. I just loosen stuff back up accordingly. There's a new three star review on Motions website and I agree with it. I have been making a list as I proceed for my review. It probably won't get published.

Well on my Dr1 i found that VQ glued the control surfaces in . (Glued its putting it Mildly) doing a pull test half of the hinges pulled out with only a small trace of glue on.

Also on the instructions it says to balance the plane upside down on the top wing, that doesn't seem right to me.

Did make up a dummy engine that fits around the Dualsky GA4000, it looks good to me.

Does the 3D printed motor spin? Looks very nice.

I will not balance mine upside down, but the rule is high wing model, balance normally. Low wing balance upside down. I discussed this with an Aeronautical Engineer and he agreed it makes little difference. Go a little nose heavy for the maiden and adjust. is how I have always done it. Worked so far, without fail. CG on this is just behind the main wheels. Could be interesting landing it! I will do some low speed stuff 4 or 5 mistakes high before I land it the first time. SAFE switch at the ready!

No the motor doesn't spin, only 5 of the 9 cylinders are installed .

I found a file for the Le Rhone that fits the motor can and actually spins. Not sure how it would hold together at 6000 rpm!

Dualsky GA4000 has more than enough power for this on 10s 5000mah

Vintage Racer, Still waiting for my DR1,but gathering ideas and components, very impressed with the looks of the exposed motor cylinders,Could You point me to the source of the program for printing them ? Would have my son print them out for me and the 7" inch wheels as well.

well the 7inch wheels are the dubro 350V, the engine started off as the Le Rhone Rotary engine on Thingverse.
i made my own crankcase to fit around my ga4000 and used cut down cylinders to fit.
Scale to 125% on the thingverse rotary

u only realy need 3 cylinders as that's all what shows.

Good luck with the maiden, I am having second thoughts about even flying mine. I'm going to 3D print a different pilot as I dropped mine and broke it. It literally shattered on the garage floor. Super brittle. I somehow feel my airplane is cursed. Maybe, it's just me... Things been more than frustrating. Covering is the weirdest thing I've ever seen. It's like contact paper. And when it's hot it starts to droop. I came out in the garage and looked at it and it was all sagging.

I was going to ask what percentage of scale did you use for the final print for those cylinders? For the overall size?

used 125% scale and just used the slicer to cut the cylinders off then just printed those .

there's a 1/6 pilot on thingverse - WW1 Manfred Von Richthofen pilot figure by ianicolo - Thingiverse

scale it to 150% and it should be 1/4 scale.

I bought this file sometime back. I paid 30 bucks for it but it's really good. The starting scale is 1/6. My first attempt was too small. I wasn't going to mess with any of this until after I fly the thing but I guess I'll go ahead. All of this guys files are wonderful. I've done some really nice work with his files. I have almost all of his files and the pilots you see here are his.

Regarding the cylinders and the space for cooling, do you think that the opening would be enough with the cylinders and the circular crankcase? Curious because on my Ziroli Tripe I had the battery in front of the firewall (2 reasons cooling for the motor and ease of changing batteries without having to go into the fuse). I had it setup so that 3 screws for cowl removal and some heavy duty Velcro around the single 6s cell, she never even got warm with a 24" cooling fan on the front, lol. And made it easier to have the plane balance with out adding weight. JUST A THOUGHT.
One more thing I had a fixed tail skid and with the huge rudder never had any problems with ground handling. So will eliminate that issue.
