I just got my second HL tank to I can practice ( T34 and Panther both pro models). Tried them out in the house in semi dark room and dark room. Well it's nothing close to what I remember with my Tamiya tanks. we could hit each other across the back yard. The HL system it's 2-3 ft and that's it. Lucky I have the Lego system coming for the second tank (panther). When it shows up both tanks will get the same system with the HO emitters. If these shot like the video it will be great and I can start to promote these things again. Presently working on a tunnel and looking for old doll houses for a town.
The battle system is decent though lacking some of the more advanced set up features of the Tamiya battle system. The weak point is the stock 6.0 HL IR receivers. Installed properly the LegoDEI receiver brings the usability of the 6.0 battle system to life. In fact a growing number of Tamiya guys are finding it a bit more fun as the fighting can be a little faster paced.

I hope so I'm showing the tanks to my RC car guys tommorow with the upgraded parts to show them. I'll also pass my information to them.

That was my thinking, Aside from shying away from the price of a TBU, it just seemed over complicated. KISS, sometimes you just want to flip a couple switches and make with the Kablooie.
