I have three types of black toolboxes and all were from Walmart: 19 inches by Hyper Tough at $13, 22 inches by Hyper Tough at $16, and 26 inches by HART at $25.

The 19 inch box could be used for the panzer III, IV, and Sherman (no tx).

The 22 inch boxes are for the T34/85, KV1, KV2, M26 and M41.

The Tiger I also fits into the 22 inch box.

The panther and Jagdpanther are for the HART 26 inch box. All of these boxes are not for the modern tanks.

I only have 10 German tanks that are gray. So I just put them all together for this event.

David, you might be interested in this article. Of particular interest is when German tanks switched from a gray basecoat to dark yellow.

On 18 February 1943, Inspectorate 2 issued an order to paint all vehicles in a base coat of dark yellow (dunkelgelb). On top of the dark yellow was to be painted a pattern of olive green (olivgrün, a color adopted from the Reichluftfahrtsministerium (RLM) (Reich ministry of aviation)), red brown (rotbraun RAL 8017), and dunkelgelb. Paint was ordered by the units according to their types and amount of equipment for re-painting in the field.

One other point in the article I appreciated is the accuracy of museum painting.

Museum vehicles are rarely re-painted correctly. While some museums do research the camouflage, such research is often based on articles written for modelers. As such articles may, in part, be based on museum vehicle paint jobs, this practice can likewise lead to wrong conclusions.

Bottom line, paint like you want to! I do.
