  • Henglong MFU

Awhile back I bought a TK 6.1s from Toucan's Amazon store. I know they are no longer being made, but last night they were still being listed as available for purchase so I attempted to buy another. About an hour later I received an email from Toucan through Amazon:

    "尊敬的 Kenneth:
    感谢您的惠顾。
    在完成您的订单时,
    亚马逊卖家toucanhobby遇到意外问题。
    来自卖家 toucanhobby 的消息:

Hello, Kenneth We are very sorry, you bought a TK6.1S Main Board from our store is out of stock, but we have a mainboard with the same function as the Henglong mainboard, which is also applicable to the Henglong tank. As shown in the figure, its price is $50, we can send this mainboard to you to replace the TK6.1S Main Board. We will refund you the difference between the two. Is it OK? Looking forward to your reply. Sincerely, Orange"

Has anyone seen this board before? Does anyone own this? Use it? I see no model # nor manufacture markings to identify. I would like to hunt down the pinout and investigate further.

    EDIT: I found this:

So the million dollar question is: Will it work with the TK 6.0 radios?

No it most likely does not. It is an old system that came out around 2015-16 and was never used in any stock HL tank. The system might be compatible with the older 5.2/5.3 TX as these were the ones in use at the time.

I don't have any info about the radio and I've never owned one, but sometimes I collect info about other boards just in case. As an FYI the pinouts are like this:

In fact Haya is selling them so if you have any questions, Andrew will probably be able to answer them: https://www.hayaltd.co.uk/Haya_24G_s..._20415984.aspx

You would be best served with going straight to a 7.1 systems and TX. There is a reason HL did not use these in their tanks and went from the 5.3 to the 6.0 -7.0 we know today skipping this generation of MFU.

If your heart is set on a 6.1s they may still be found on Aliexpress. I just got a few along with some 7.1’s in late last month.

Regarding the 7's apparently there are two sound packs. One has the Abrams and Leopard, the other has the T-90 and Tiger 1. if you order from Toucan be sure you specify. Even so, I don't know if they can tell which is which!

The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Thank you my freinds. I have a T90/Tiger 7.1 on the way. and another with the Abrams sound pack. I also have a 6.1s sitting in reserve. Im good to go on that front. I just thought this MFU Toucan was trying to pawn off on me, may be useful down the road IF it will bind with a 6.0 transmitter. What the heck, its pretty cheap and seems to do everything a 6.1 will do

Thanx to Ya'lls input, Im going to pass.....

This's CS TK 16S from Canchou company. It's spec as Heng long 6.1S and can control with Heng Long 6.0 or 6.0S radio. The sound from 2 speackers are so lound. And I reccommend Mabuchi 380-4270 (add 104 capacitor on) to run with 2S, 3S lipo battery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkS6VRqNHBk

Thanx for posting that. The more I learn, the more I may tinker with it. I really dont need it, but I woud like to fool around with it. As far as loudness goes-I make my own tank speakers, so that wont be an issue.....

I know ZS isn't interested in this system anymore, but from the video it seems it has all the same functions as the 6.1 to include the servos and 4 tank sounds. Just because HL didn't use it, doesn't mean it's a bad system. It seems the ESC portion of it is separate and it has more LED outputs than the normal HL systems. It could be that it was simply more expensive or less profitable or just more complex than they wanted it to be with the two modules or simply too large a foot print. Since it works with the 6.0 and the Haya radio, it definitely isn't as old as the 5.3 system as I have one of those and it uses a less sophisticated radio. Personally it looks like a pretty good system for someone who doesn't want to battle on the Tamiya standard as I have no way to confirm if they are using the HL or Tamiya coding. I may pick one up just to play with.

I bought it direct from Toucan.. $40.........what the hell, why not give it a go.

EDIT: After I purchased from Toucan, I received an email from them saying IT IS NOT compatable with the TK 6.0 Transmitter. Toucan canceled the Paypal transaction, which was decent of them.

During my research, I came across a video on that board and it appeared to bind with the 6.0s transmitter. The video wasn't clear but on shooting the main gun it looked like it not only ran the motors, but made the engine sound along with it. Could have been operator error, not sure.

Thanx Clay. Im not sure what to belive at this point. I have one Toucan rep telling me it will bind, and another saying it wont. The remote one rep is telling me I must use is this one:

However a little voice in my head is telling me someone at Toucan is trying to milk me for another $40. The price point of the MFU is too compelling to ignore.

If your concern in Post 12 is, does a 6.0 TX bind to a 6.1 RX, absolutely yes. It runs both 6.0 & 6.1, I do it all the time. A 6.0 will NOT run 7.0 & 7.1's and vice versa. The two versions are not compatible. If you're asking if that two-part board would work with a 6.0 TX, I'd be skeptical. If you look at your 6.0/6.1 manual, you'll see that many of the channel numbers are not the same. For instance "turret turning" on the mystery board is CH4, and "Cannon lifting" CH5. For a 6.1 RX, it's CN3 & C$ 4 respectively. I also don't see the V S G K buttons on the mystery TX, or the MG & Cannon buttons on top.
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Thanx Bob for that observation-Thats exactly what I needed to hear. After your input Im going to pass on this MFU.
