  • At our event today, one member introduced his equipment to us on a new way of battling. I put it on and it was so clear. The camera can be mounted on top of the turret or on the IR receiver. Tang took one home to evaluate it further. We will probably have this new battling experience hopefully by summer.

    • Our club is experiencing a number of new members who purchased tanks and did not know how to convert them for battling at our tank event. We now have an offer for those new members. We will get the tanks from MotionRC; mostly the popular M4 Sherman tanks. These M4 tanks are good for beginners. They are small and reliable. They have short barrels that are easy to maneuver in our battlefield. We will install the LegoDEI IR receiver battle units and the powerful IR emitters into these tanks. The new member will just glue the accessories on, apply the decals, plug the batteries in the tank and the transmitter. It is then ready for battle. If you know someone who wants to join us, the present offer is $250 with our club's T-shirt and unlimited technical support for a year. Please contact us at socalrctank@gmail.com if you have any further question.

If you want another tank instead of the M4, just let us know and we can do the IR installation for it too. The cost will be proportional to the price of the tank you choose.

          • At the event, the museum will give the whole hangar (F) to run our battle.

            • Since our program is an exhibition, volunteers are allowed to bring their non IR battle soft skin vehicles or light tanks to drive inside the battlefield. This will bring more thrill to our spectators and excitement to the battle. Therefore, trucks, jeeps, kubelwagons, Sd 251, M5, M16, M8 (both tank & armor car), or beetles are all welcome. And for those members who know that you cannot help much in our program, you can bring your unique tank and drive around the museum compound to attract people. Then you tell them to come to our hangar, heheh. Thx!

                • Note from Planes of Fame Museum for this weekend event:

                  David,

Thank you and your Club for once again supporting Planes of Fame and our "Wings, Tracks, and Wheels" event. Your Club adds an incredible dimension to the event and is always the most popular activity.

                  Here's the instructions for Load-In:

The Hangar will be cleared of its one aircraft early on Friday afternoon (May 1). You may load in anytime after 2:00pm on Friday. Or, you can choose to load-in Saturday (May 2) morning. Hours for load-in for Saturday run from 7:30am until 8:45am. All vehicles must be cleared from the Museum campus by 8:45am.

Your team will need to park in the Public Parking Area located at the corner of Merrill Avenue and Stearman Drive. This area will be clearly marked and is a short walk back to the Museum.

The Hangar Doors will remain open during the event and in the evening, they will be closed and the Hangar secured so you can leave everything overnight safely.

                  Load-Out:

You may begin to break everything down as soon as the event ends at 5:00pm. We are not allowing vehicles into the Museum until 5:30pm - this is to give our guests time to depart.
