Unfortunately I no longer have the "how to" step by step photos and showing photos of the completed modifications will not show how it is done. I know others that have done the modification that might have photos of when they installed theirs. I will check around and see if they can post some here.

No special tools used. All done with a junior hacksaw, straight edge, square, hand file, pencil, and scribe. Took about an hour and a half. Then overnight to dry, but better with 24 hours.

Most of us do not have a model machine shop. We do what Meter Rat does with hack saw and cutting wheels on rotary tool.

A while back, a model shop in Singapore marketed a reinforcement kit for the TD M60, but it is long out of production. You can use the pictures below to cut your reinforcement pieces in plastic. Let's face it, Heng Long and Tongde RTR tanks are inexpensive toys, but a good platform for mechanical upgrade. The real fun is the buildup project. Besides Tamiya, a few manufacturer in China make expensive 1/16 scale RTR metal tanks. If interested, search for Matomark, Hooben, Taigen, Torro on the net.

For many years, I had 2 Dremel tools. The AC Dremel tool runs at up to 15000rpm. It is powerful, but vibrates too much to hold steady for modeling job. I got a Dremel pet nail grooming kit for modeling job, but they do not last. 2 years ago, I found some made-in-China rechargeable rotary tools. I got a 4volt one for plastic and an 8volt one for metal, both together for less than half the price of a Dremel. They are now essential to my RC tank project. One recent project is to modify the M60 barrel. I cut off the thick aluminum end section and replaced it with a thin wall brass tube to facilitate barrel recoil. The TD barrel is still way oversized, but it can recoil.

I have done the same process to HL T-34/85 and Sherman successfully. The $20 8V rotary tool is powerful. I clamp down the part to be cut securely on an attached vise for cutting.

There are many made-in-China rechargeable rotary tools offers on the market. Too many different brands to know which one is good. So I got mine from Amazon. If the tool does not meet my expectation, it is easy to return. I luck out and keep both. They are good for modeling jobs.

keilau. Thank you for the link to the rotary tools. I may invest in one, one day. For now, I am happy using hand tools.

dai phan. You could just purchase a ready made kit.

Our very own developed product for the HL T90! Made from precision laser-cut and machined aluminium, this is the hull stiffening aluminium brace (HSAB) kit for the T90 and this makes a world of a difference when your lower hull is stiff and stronger

I already bought that kit but was advised from another member years ago that will not solve the issue of cracking in the front hull. Dai
