Barrel on promotion version not firing BBs

I’m disappointed in this Sturm III 7 promotion version not being able to fire BB’s - which is why it was brought. The box states it can but a sticker states not available on this model😔. Can I get a replacement BB enabled barrel? Any other options available?

A sticker on the box states this model is a promotion version metal drive gearbox version (steel gear).
the box has a image with ‘shoots BB’ and a sticker was placed on that stating ‘BB firing action not available on this model’

There's more than the barrel needed. There would be a chute that feeds the pellets from a hatch on top. If your tank doesn't have that, a new barrel won't be enough. My guess is your best recourse is to return it, a real pain I know. Who was the seller?

If it doesn't shoot BBs and do IR, it's a really old version. The newer HL tanks do both. The old electronics are also not great as the driving characteristics aren't very smooth. Converting it to shoot BBs wouldn't be and easy thing for someone not familiar with RC tanks. It would be cheaper and much easier to return/sell it and get one that has that function.

It’s a Heng Long 1:16 tank.

It is either an IR battle only version or not an Heng Long RTR tank. Heng Long have not made IR only tank for many years. As @Evan D pointed out, HL did not make a "Sturm(geschütz?) III 7" RC tank. It may be a different non-BB brand. Show some pictures if you are serious about getting help.

This is an IR only version HL assault gun. Is it what you got?? It is not a tank. It is a tracked assault gun without the turret. Heng Long probably eliminate the gun elevation BB unit to save cost. They cut cost to make the very low promotional price. It makes sense. Get a HL RC tank if you want BB shooting.

Get the professional version instead.

A generic trigger motor barrel recoil is cheap and readily available. You will have to adapt your existing barrel from the StuG III.

A metal servo recoil is significantly more expensive than the trigger motor one. There are many post about their difference that you can look up.
I have the trigger motor recoil on most of my HL tanks. Good enough for me. The adaptation includes cutting the existing barrel and tap a screw hole. It is easy if you are mechanically handy.

however it appears the barrel does work - I can feel the air coming out when fired. We’ll get some bb

It has a 7.0 sticker on the box so it should shoot BBs and do IR. Normally they come with a box of BBs in it.

Please separate top shell from bottom and post photos of underside of the top/turret assembly so we can see exactly what you have got. Posted photos will clear up all speculation of what you have exactly and what we can tell you what can or can't be done for your tank to shoot BBs.

Here is a what the part should look like. There might be an additional small part to direct the BB into the barrel assembly.

If I bought a model like this, I would be just as frustrated. The main thing is the feeling of losing the most important function – shooting BBs! It’s ridiculous that the company doesn’t provide a replacement barrel. At least there should be an option to buy it separately or upgrade!
