You can get an equally well equipped HengLong for less:Originally posted by Vintage Racer View PostJust missed one of these on eBay, didn't bid as I thought it would go for ALLOT more than it did. $290.00 Still kicking myself. Just seeing if someone might have one they are looking to part with. Thanks.
Taigen TAG13005
Warning: HengLong RC tank is hobby grade but not toy grade, we expect our buyer is capable of learning how to maintain this tank, because the tank parts will wear and get glitches in running. Lacking manipulative ability will reduce your enjoyment of playing the tank. Only suitable for players with manipulative ability
Toucan shipping from US Stock is very reasonable, usually about $20.

This very old YouTube video showed that HengLong made the Porsche Turrent King Tiger too. Not sure if you can find it on the market.Originally posted by Vintage Racer View PostThanks, but it's about the turret.

This one on AliExpress does look like the Porsche turrent, but the seller did not specify.
Or you can get a new 1/16 scale Tamiya Porsche King Tiger, new for $325.

Once again, thanks very much. I thought about the Tamiya option but I don't care to convert a plastic model to radio control, even if it's just the turret. It's just more work than I'm willing to do, and much more expensive. I'd like to build an early Panther G using the Trumpeter model but it's going to cost nearly $1,000 by the time I obtain both models, then I have all the work to do. I was hoping to model something from the midsummer 44 era in the Panther series. All the current RC versions are like a March 1945 production time frame. Also it looks like I'll go with a MATO all metal if I buy a King Tiger, not being able find this particular one. At that point I'll model Kurt Sova's tank from Battle of the Bulge, 222.

HengLong no longer make the Porsche King Tiger. All their current shipping, including the one above, are Henschel turret. The Porsche turret looks more sexy, but the flat Henschel turrent is cheaper and easier to produce and ended up in the production runs of the real tank.Originally posted by keilau View Post

Tongde’s website lists a number of what are other brand tanks. I don’t know if they are buying the rights to produce their own versions or are just teasers. Among them are both turreted versions of the HL Tiger II. I wonder if they plan to release them someday? The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

The early HL Tiger2 is a copy of the Tamiya Porsche King Tiger. Most modeler like the Porsche turret better. But the HL designers are probably not a tank hobbyist. Their "improvement" to the production Henschel turret may have hurt their sales.Originally posted by SoCalBobS View PostTongde’s website lists a number of what are other brand tanks. Thanks for all the input, I have an ebay offer on the Tamiya RC PORSCHE Turret kit, and the 3D printed turret option also. Not sure how I will proceed at the moment. I really wanted a MATO all metal with the original design turret (PORSCHE) but it as previously mentioned is NLA. I will keep hoping for an ebay find as well.

I think I'm going to go with the 3D printed version, the guy in England has, I'm just trying to decide which hull to buy. The Torro/Taigen version has the zimmret on the hull, and they sell sheets/kits right here on the Motion website. There are also kits on eBay.
Kind of like Eleanor right.

I think a lot of US folks get confused when talking about the UK as we fought the revolutionary war to separate from "England". Of course the UK didn't exist back then. When a US citizen says "England", I would assume most mean the UK. I know it's not correct, but most see England and the UK as one in the same and don't see the UK as four independent countries. I know I couldn't point out Wales on a map of the UK.Originally posted by Meter Rat View Post

This is very funny, my wife is actually from Motherwell in Scotland. I'm familiar with the UK, I've been there several times.
Thank God for the revolutionary war, that's all I can say. There's a guy that I work with from somewhere on that island and he makes me glad that we revolted as well. It gives every 4th of July a special meaning for me and I'm not s******* you. The guy is a menace.
Anyway back on topic, I just bought one for $135 bucks off eBay. The Heng Long version new in the box. Now I won't have to deal with the guy in Ireland or wherever the f*** he's at.
