It depends on what FlyWing's criteria has been for "selling well". At the current price for a new purchase at $2400.00, that would mean they are working on numbers 400 to 500 units. Unit 501 and beyond will be at their "full" price of $2500.00. I'm sure that by MotionRC standards, 500 units for a new release would be a failure.
Your "entry level" price may be contingent upon you expressing interest (notify me) during the pre-launch and due to the fact that many buyers have since cancelled. Speaking of which, someone just announced that FlyWing has sent notices out that China Customs has now forbidden all exports of this product and almost all shipments have been sent back to FlyWing. FlyWing is now working with their customs office to resolve this but no timeline is given. Those who wish to get a refund will get it and if they wish to re-order later when the customs issue is resolved will be able to buy it at the price that was set for those getting the refund.

A mess, indeed. It's very strange that some have gotten through to their destinations, such as SgtRay and yet, everything has now just stopped. So far, those who have received theirs and flown it, have raved about it. The odd one have had mishaps on maiden, but it is clear those did not read the manual and listened to all the warnings.
Oh well, I guess once I get my refund, Freewing will sell me another jet sooner than later.

As of today, FlyWing has halted all sales of the X-Wing - "Out of Stock" until they can get a handle on this whole fiasco. They are offering refunds to everyone who has not and will not get their product. I have yet to see my refund but that might just mean they are in scrambling mode.

UPDATE: Asked for a refund a few days ago. Just got a reply this morning. They are saying they are going to try another way to get this thing to me in Canada. I guess they're hoping Canada has less restrictions for such products. The next few days will tell.

On the X-Wing Facebook group, someone from FlyWing posted that they are asking those with standing orders to be more patient as they continue to work on getting around the China customs situation.

That was VERY good. I generally don't watch a long video like that from beginning to end but the constant commentary kept me engaged. It allowed me to know what you're doing, what you're feeling and what you're planning to do the whole time. Other vids show a continuous stream of silence. That gets real boring fast. You know your stuff and you know how to convey that information through the video. Your opinions were real, as opposed to those 20 influencers who got a $2500.00 freebee. One just isn't convinced that they don't feel obligated to say what they say. Well done!
I'm still waiting for FlyWing to figure out how to get mine to me. They say they will ship it next week. We will see.

Thanks I appreciate that. First time I've ever found a benefit to the fact that I talk too much. LOL I hope you get yours soon. The world has gone insane when you can't get something that cost that damn much to show up on time.

FlyWing said they were going to ship by this weekend. So far nothing. But I 've learned to add a week to everything they say.

Update: Label was created, tracking # issued. Cleared export customs. UPS has my package, requested I pay import fees, says delivery to be Monday afternoon (4 days from now). UPS brokerage, tax at a "pay now" discounted price of 20 Canuck bucks - a bargain. No duty or tariff on "hobby supplies".
I think FlyWing has figured out how to get these things out of China now. Get it to Hong Kong before going through China Customs, declare it as something other than "drone". Reduce declared value for customs as almost nothing. Send out only 6 units per day.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I can understand how frustrating this must be. I sent my first email asking for an immediate refund, to which they replied that they want more time to find a way to ship it to me. It took a total of 3 "tries" before they actually shipped it. I believe most of the returns by China Customs were from USA orders. For whatever reason, they stalled shipping for me in Canada. I think they likely had to most sales from the US and they tried to get those out first. Tried to ship out too many at once. China Customs in the mainland seemed to have more stringent interpretations of customs regulations of other countries. I posted on their VIP Facebook page that perhaps it would be a better idea to get these things to Hong Kong first before trying to push them through customs and maybe to NOT declare them as "drones". Don't know if they listened but I believe that's why mine had more success on the first attempt than previous ones that went thru customs in the mainland. Mine has now cleared China Customs and UPS has it and they are probably waiting for their next air freight flight to be scheduled before leaving Hong Kong airport. I've even paid the UPS brokerage fee.

My only suggestion to you is to send one last email to them asking for a FULL REFUND and if you don't hear within one week, you should file a dispute with PayPal (if that's how you paid) or go to your CC company and get the charge reversed due to inability to complete shipping. It's always taken them about a week to respond to any of my emails. Time difference and being busy, I suspect. My emails have always gone to "sales@flywingrc.com".
