Yes, I am posting here in the off-chance someone from MRC actually sees this and has some insight on if it changed or not.

    • Has anyone had failures of the nose gear? I just acquired a new, never-flow A-6. On the first landing, which was quite gentle on a fairly hard/smooth dirt/sand runway the nose gear collapsed. Post-accident investigation revealed that the plastic housing had split on both sides and the flange was broken on both sides. There was no metal flange reinforcement. I ordered a new nose gear servo and metal flange reinforcement. I guess landing on the mains and keeping weight off the nose gear is going to be de riguer.

On another subject: CG. I ran the Mean Aerodynamic Chord calcs. It looks like placing the CG at 30% back of the leading edge at MAC puts the CG at the leading edge of the fan housing, about 0.4 inches further back than the manual recommends. I'm going with that as a starting point. I think the CG can be placed even further aft. Time will tell.

      • There is always a chance, i have several jets and lots of them with no issues with cracked plastic but i had one and for some reason it just went on the first flight.

        • How old is it? The first ones out, 11 years ago had a poorly (poorer than the current one) designed nose retract and many of us broke them. From memory none have had the metal plate. Also be careful about balance. The book value works and if you go aft it really flies poorly.

This is the new high performance version. Except, the nose gear was low performance.

Funny you mention being half deaf from being around A-6's. I have a funny story about the A-6 on the USS America. Needless to say they were LOUD!

                • Hello All,

I just recently acquired an A6, I was wondering if anyone had the external pylons/tanks for sale?

Also in the manual it mentions optional bombs and racks, does anyone know if these are available?

                  Thanks for the help!
