I stuck the 6s eurofighter fan in my F22 and a buddy used my 8s eurofighter fan in an F4. They both gave the planes more low end thrust and vertical. We measured speed by eye ball and gut feeling, so nothing scientific there, could be faster but an unremarkable difference. I'm still leaving the 6s version in the F22 though, as it did make it more lively. And I'll probably be putting the 8s in my Phantom to try it out. Though my buddy did get shorter flight times than the stock 8s setup. So it might mean giving up some duration with the 8s.

An advantage of this planes stock fan, is that it is slightly larger diameter than previous Freewing fans. This means that if you did want to fit say a Jetfan or Schubeler upgrade, it fits with no foam removal or compressing. My DS51 dropped right in, that never happened before. The stock 8S is certainly a powerful if slightly heavy system, it does pull a lot of amps though.

Before I take the plunge I could do with understanding how to install the EDF/ESC and 'seal' the model back up for flight. I've seen the PnP manual online but it obviously doesn't cover EDF/ESC fitting. Does anyone know if there is a ARTF manual out there I could download and peruse? Cheers in advance. Phil.
Personally, I'd recommend getting the 8S version with their ESC, which has thrust reversing already. It flies incredible on that power system and gets off thick grass if needed. I fly mine on the SMC HiV new 8S 4400 packs, so the ESC also handles Hi Volt packs. Unless you happen to have an EDF and ESC that you can't live without, go with their 8S version. If you do change the EDF, which I have done in most of my other EDF's, the swap out is relatively simple, assuming the fan diameter is similar. Just pop out the EDF hatch which is held on with 2 screws that gives you unfettered access to the EDF and ESC. If you put an after burner in as well as I did, you need to do that anyway. Sometimes the mounting screw holes are the same, sometimes not. The only modifications I have had to do is when I changed the Mig 29's stock EDF's with a better 12 blade FMS fan. Screw holes matched, but the fan dimension was a bit different and had to carve out some foam for the fan to fit correctly, no bigger.

Yes they are quite outstanding. Clearly created by the "Master Designer"! Thanks for making them available on Thingiverse.

Nice work! After doing just my simple graphics I know it was a lot of work. Gary

This is what Callie's graphic sheet looked like: I actually got 2 sets (6 huge pages in all) so I would have extra stripes or in case I messed up (quite common for me). Still had to do a lot of hand painting with gloss black to finish off the stripes and virtually the entire bottom is hand painted. The graphic sheets looked like a puzzle in hieroglyphics and I can honestly say I never really solved it more than maybe 50%.

This is the real version, and the only thing I did a little different was have the orange blead into a yellow on the canards, tail and outside wingtips:

This one was extremely tedious for me but it definitely is highly visible. It's the 8S version and I'm flying it on 2 HiV SMC 4S 4400's. The quality of the foam and hardware is certainly one of their best, I'm very impressed with it. Finished it off with 4 coats of clear gloss Spar Urethane which gives it a nice shiny hard surface.
