May just be an anomaly with that particular Betaflight receiver.
Jandro, I will see if I can emulate your landing style next week.Leave a comment:

Have you seen the latest warning on the Motion site about doing that sort of thing?
Power System and Electronics Compatibility:
This model is designed to operate using the included ESC and its integrated BEC, which is specifically matched to the onboard electronics. To ensure reliable performance and prevent damage, always power the aircraft's receiver and electronics through the installed ESC using the main flight battery. Do not use any power source other than the main flight battery to power the model, otherwise damage will occur to the electronics.
The receiver, servos, and other onboard electronics included with this model are rated for a maximum input voltage of 5.5V. When selecting your ESC and power system, verify that the BEC output supplied to the receiver and onboard electronics does not exceed 5.5V. Using a higher voltage will damage the aircraft's electronics.

I'm also landing with full span flaps, which add more drag and require more throttle.Leave a comment:

Thanks!
At least the first ones I highlighted at the beginning of the video were... there were a few others that were 'less than stellar', but I'm still adjusting and getting used to the cat, so I'll take it!
I don't think I'm coming with the same level of throttle on each approach. At the angles I'm coming, the jet can easily transition to reverse regime, and at that point, a small change in AoA requires totally different throttle settings...
But, for the approach, let's say, before I get into muddy waters, it was probably something like 15-25%?
I don't consciously think about it but will try to remember next time I bring it out for a spin! :)Leave a comment:

Jandro , those landings are extremely good. I will try and copy your style. What sort of throttle percentage have you got on just prior to the flare?Leave a comment:

Seems like sloppy design work.
Also poor customer service to wait so long for wings.
Things seem to have gone downhill since Alpha was there.Leave a comment:

A reminder, since apparently some didn't get the message first time around.F-14 158984 (this VF-1 Wolfpack one)) was an F-14A. Here is a photo of the real thing:
This Wolf Pack Tomcat was photographed at its home base, NAS Miramar, in August 1976. Like its sister squadron, VF-2, VF-1 was part of Carrier Air Wing 14 (CVW-14) which was assigned to the USS Enterprise (CVN-65). The squadron was established on 14 October 1972 and disestablished on 01 October 1993.
The stock nozzles on this model are not correct for the F-14A (as you can see in the photo). They are not even close.
I have put some 3DP nozzles correct for the F-14A up on Thingiverse, that fit this model and have a properly sized outlet.
Here is a (more or less) correct nozzle for the twin 64mm Freewing F-14A. (Slight deviation from scale was needed to get the exit area correct for the fan size.)Print light. The file "Nozzle" is simply to replace the entire stock nozzle(foam and plastic skin). Cut off the existing nozzle and glue this in its place.IF you can peel off the plastic skin without damaging the foam underneath, use the guide to trim the foam stub to length, and mount the "noz c file" over the stub. This makes it slightly lighter and a bit easier to align. It is necessary to trim the stub to accommodate the different shape of the F-14A nozzle. The petals are very thin and some slicers may not slice them well. The "A" nozzle is a bit more robust than the noz_c
Still no V2 wings at Motion, it's been nearly 7 months now.Leave a comment:

I left the plane sitting on its gear while i went away and now see that both main wheels have a flat spot which causes it to run poorly on the ground. Can they be saved or do i need new wheels ?
Thanks
Mark

Re maiden complete with a SMC 5900 HV pack. Managed 2 flights with the first landing ok but a little fast. I kept the wings out for the entire flight and felt that it was quite a heart racing first flight. My second landing was not as good as I flared the aircraft a bit too early and did not maintain a steady rate of descent to touchdown, it flattened out too much and I ended up dropping a wing from about 1ft. No real damage , just the pinion to the gear which sheared off. Lucky just 3.99 on Motion so have ordered a few as spares.
I have seen that many people are using lighter packs so have ordered a few of the CHNL HV packs with 4500 MaH, this drops the weight by about 160 gramms. Fingers crossed for the next flight. I think I will use this airframe until I get a bit more confidence before breaking out the replacement.Leave a comment:

It is a bit strange but thats the only way to get it to work, or have a small RX battery pack to run the RX and servos! Ill just accept that at least its working now.Leave a comment:
