Well sorry so many bust on the J10 I have to say I bought the very first batch when 6s was only available. I recently converted to a FW 8s EDF and talk about a screamer . For me landings are even smoother to perform takes so much less throttle and an oops moment she has more than enough to pull out of anything I’ve done so far. My only issue with mine has been the retract plastic plate that is not sold separately. After 70 flights or so the bracket finally cracked then split on a second landing, a little fast on grass but smooth. No damage other than gear doors steering buckle and surround plate, even the nose cone not a scratch!! So anyways to my point I am designing a reinforcement plate for such issues ( sorry we all have bad landings ) and a fuse running $180 with no other damage doesn’t make sense to me. Right now the plate is ply but after some more testing I’ll be doing a thin aluminum plate that I’ll share dimensions with. For now here’s a pic of the ply with a few other pics, this was a slow dive wanted to break 160mph but the gear issue wasn’t going to change anything.

The ESC should be Blue ( hopefully) and just look inside the bottom cheater if the housing ( EDF ) is black that’s 6s if it’s metal ( silver ) it’s 8sOriginally posted by Andy B View PostHi all, I ordered the 8s, but think I have been sent the 6s, it only has 1 ec5 connector in the fuse. Any help on how to tell if its 8s?
And if it is 8s, I'm guessing i will need to make a series connector for the packs? Should that not be in the kit?

No you will need a series connector if running 2 4s packs don’t get the small one like this and wire wise I ordered mine with 8g instead of the normal 10g. I run 2 4s packs much cheaper in my opinion SMC 49/4200 hivolt packs 4400 regular SMC packs and the occasional 59-5100 SMC hi volt packs are the sizes I fly with. The 49/4200 4400’s are great plane crazy agile the 59/5100 you can feel the weight turns a little more sluggish. Not bad but can be felt, I did trim my canard servo ends to make sure they didn’t rub using the 59/5100’s.Originally posted by Andy B View PostThe cover is glued on.
8s there normally a series connector in the fuse for 8s?

The only difference is the motor. Same ESC in both versions and as noted you need to have a proper series adapter if you will use multiple batteries to get 8S. This is not included. There are 8S batteries that won't need the series adapter.
The cover is not glued on. There are screws and the cover may be sticky.
If I were you I would assume that if you got a box marked 8S version it's 8S. Another way to test is simply put a charged 6S in it and see how much thrust you have.
