Did anyone have any issues with the 5A UBEC that comes with the 8S Yak with overheating and cutting out? I just had that happen and I crashed my model as it lost all power in mid air. I think this plane needs more than a 5A UBEC considering all the lights, landing gear door servos etc. After recovering the plane I found the UBEC had the heat shrink plastic around it melted and the power lead from the UBEC had melted insulation around it which caused it to short out and break - picture attached. I bought an ARF to rebuild this model as it is one of my favorites. I'll use an 18A UBEC which has two power leads to increase current capacity. Any other thoughts on this?

A few people have noted this on the F-22 and F-4 threads. Could be in the F-15 and F-16 threads too but I don't spend time on those.

Has anyone had issues with the flaps on this plane? This is my third one and they all have the same strange issues with flaps - after landing the flaps sometimes don't want to retract back, randomly. You have to cycle the flap switch several times for them to come back. There are never issues with deploying flaps while in the air of retracting after takeoff. This makes no sense unless my bumpy grass runway cases this after landing...

Does anyone have the red version without the mixing board and can suggest where I can mount my Aura 8 gyro unit? The wires are so short that I don't see how I can mount any receiver without throwing it back in the back of the aircraft. The Assy manual is sure no help. The wiring on my version is totally different from the gray versions that I have seen. Those look very organized like my Avanti and F-14. This on is just a mess. Pictures please!

For the Yak 130 I created weapons pylons with the Rocket Launcher B13-LThe used Freewing Yak 130 I did not need any weapons pylons, that's why I created them myself. These are also more scale than the originals of Freewing. I also improved the Rocket Launcher B-13L (Scale). Both are intended for second place seen from the fuselage away. As soon as I finish painting, I put the photos online.

Thanks!
The first thing anyone asks me when it comes to these planes in 6s .................. Will it do a loop comfortably? The answer is NO, not without a slight diving run at it.

The thing weighs 4 kilos. On a paved runway, the take off run isn't too bad but once it's in the air, it flies like a hippo wallowing in mud. It's very under-powered and you must fly it cautiously and not make any sudden control stick movements. I had the 90mm F-16 with the same power system and it performed only marginally better due to its lighter weight. The stock power system in the F-16 would have been really bad. Both the guy with the Yak 130 and me with my F-16 sold them after only a few flights. Had the 8s been available at the time, we may still have those planes.

My friend's Yak could not do a loop without a diving run at it. In fact, on his second take off, it barely got of the grass and stalled trying to climb and flew into a tree. Maybe it was the battery he was using or maybe it was the 3500' elevation but it was a pig. After he repaired it, he couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Watching his first flight, I wouldn't exactly say it was plenty fast. I decided not to get one after seeing his.
